Not sure if there is a bigger surprise in the NHL this season than the complete collapse of what appeared to be an up-and-coming team out on Long Island. New York won its first playoff series since 1993 last season before falling at the hands of the Lightning. With a captain at just 25 and a young core including Ryan Strome, Nick Leddy and Kyle Okposo, this team appeared ready to rise in the east. But Okposo walked in free agency, none of the team's free agent signings have done much of anything, and that young talent just isn't thriving. It's led to calls for Jack Capuano's job, and perhaps those calls will get answered. Meanwhile, the Hawks have won a few in a row and are back at full strength with Toews and Seabrook again back in the lineup. Seems like two points should be attainable tonight, don't they?

LET'S GO HAWKS!!

Our company is having its holiday party tonight, too. Seems like bullshit to have it on a Thursday night, doesn't it?

At least the bar will have the Hawks game on. Probably with sound, too.

Yeah they always shoot for a Thursday... I am guessing it is more expensive or harder to book things on a Friday night.

Though this year it is just an ad-hoc happy hour type deal from 2-5.... we are just walking over to a bar near our office, its not a planned event/dinner.

Hopefully the warmup game was enough to get back on gear for Toews, he normally destroys Tavares up and down the ice.

It took me to finally seeing some islanders non vs hawks games to actually appreciate Tavares's ability.

Are you going to show up shit faced again and hit on all the bouncers? If so, I'm not coming.

The Islanders have won five of their last 8 including wins against the Blues and Rangers last week while slowly getting healthy. The Hawks have also won 5 of last 8 while getting healthier.

We beat them all 3 times last year, suggesting style favors us but both these teams are different animals than last year.

Hartman is questionable with unspecified injury, Q says he might be back, he might not, and we know to interpret that his leg was severed 3 inches below the knee pad.

I watched them beat the Blues, who lack firepower this year. Our style this year of 1-0 games won't cut it. If you look down their season they are pretty good if they keep the score low, but if you put 3 or 4 on them they usually aren't in the game. Given our style of late, that doesn't bode well or translate from the beat downs we gave them last year.

I think we are the better team, Darling will have to carry it and we need to find 3 red disco parties. Perhaps we can get back to the high scoring we displayed before Toews went down, we have done remarkably well given the lack of goals the last month.

Tavares has 1 goal in 10 career games vs the Blackhawks. Toews simply normally dominates him.

Toews has 4 goals and is over a ppg vs the isles.

Idk which goalie the isles are really rising with right now. Kenpny back in a game for Forsling.

Slow start, but Hartman's drawing some nice penalties, Panarin's PP goal was sick as were the Panarin & Kane passes before Anisimov's goal on the second PP.

...and then Hartman's sick pass to Hoss! :smug2:
