Ovie's playoff record and international record are just unacceptable. He may have a shot at redemption, with Tarasenko, AA, Panarin, Malkin just for starters, but I can't take the guy seriously as an all-time great when he doesn't do it in the playoffs. He seems to be shut down if focused on. I mean is a roughian, a barbarian, and used to be able to just force the puck in the goal, skate fast and knock everyone around.
His points say he might be the second greatest ever. The second greatest ever should not be a complete white wash in internationl play AND the playoffs. For me that drops him in 50-100 range, while Toews and Crosby are legend in their decorations. Toews might be the 200th best player ever or something in reality in terms of ability, and yet for me he is in top 10 consideration when you look at accomplishments.
Which one would we want on our team? I ain't trading Toews for Ovie 5 years ago straight up. Toews will go down as the best defensive center, leader, etc. Ovie played for himself.
As for slap shots, Tarasenko is up there too unfortunately. Good lead in to Sunday.
