Some thoughts on the game last night...

Loved watching Crawford come back from the time off and put up the shutout. He seemed calm, played the angles, and let the defense do their job in front of him. CBJ had some opportunities but either Crawford made some nice side to side plays or the defense bailed him out...love to see it.

Not the best win but 2 points is 2 points and have to love how the Blackhawks are finding different ways to win.

The only player who I thought played poor was Stalberg. Too many blueline turnovers again and the offensive penalty didn't help either. Would love to see him just chip the puck deep and let his speed take over. Stalberg is definitely at his best when he is using his speed to his advantage.

Two players I was critical of early on are looking great.

Shaw - Love the way he is playing and he is finally looking good/comfortable at the center position. I thought Shaw was being too cutesy early on and wasn't playing the game that got him to this point. Well, he is now and it is paying off big time. Shaw needs to be in the middle of the crap, he needs to be a pest, a thorn in the other team's side. He is taking a beating in front of the net, winning faceoffs, and going to the high traffic areas which is paying off on the scoresheet.
Saad - he has really stepped up the last 10 games. I still don't think he is best for Toews/Hossa (too similar a style and doesn't compliment them enough) but he is showing why he should be in the NHL and that he can play at both ends of the ice. Love his one on one shiftiness and the more confident he gets, the more patient he will get with the puck which is going to pay off for himself and his linemates.

Kruger - had another real nice game and I think he compliments Sharp/Kane well.
Roszival - love what he brings as a #6 guy. He plays a physical game, clears the net, and is very safe/patient with the puck.
Bickell - Is definitely playing like he is a UFA after this year. Love how physical he has been and hopefully that continues. JJ at HB is reporting the Blackhawks are working on/close to an extension with Bickell, just something to toss out there.

The superstars keep showing up and even if they aren't on the scoreboard, they are still creating and it is only a matter of time. When Sharp puts up 8 SOG and doesn't hit the back of the net...it is bound to happen sooner or later.

Edmonton is a exciting, young team to watch. They will definitely come ready tonight and they have given the Blackhawks some trouble in the recent past. Should be a great game.

Grind out win with Crawford's first game back and a shutout against one of the worst teams in the league. Wasn't the best game we've played, but nonetheless, I'll take the W.
