Was at the game last night and the crowd was definitely into it big time. Definitely a different crowd from all the families I saw on Sunday vs LA.
The Hossa hit...I have 3 games for Hansen. It is an elbow to the back of the head of a defenseless player. There is no reason to get your hands up on a play like that. I wouldn't be surprised if he receives more than 3, but I believe Keith's hit to Sedin last year was worse and Keith only got 5. Really hoping Hossa is okay but have to be worried after last year's concussion. Time for this fast start to pay off and for someone from Rockford to possibly step up in a big way. Carcillo is ready to return but the Blackhawks need some more pop offensively with Hossa possibly out.
I thought the Blackhawks played a good game last night. They didn't bury their chances in the 3rd period which came back to haunt them. Schneider played very well. I thought that Bolland, Saad, Kruger, and Bickell just had "meh" games for the Blackhawks last night. Shaw, Stalberg, and Sharp all had good games. Sharp is finally coming around over the last few games and showing some life...second time in three games that Sharp dropped the gloves in a scrum (even though he didn't end up throwing) which is good to see for a variety of reasons. Shaw took a beating all night in front of the net and set up a nice screen on the Hossa goal.
Emery had an okay game with the first goal being weak. Hard to blame him on the next two goals as he was just completely screened. Big saves in the shootout and got the Hawks two points at the end of the day.
Love the way the defense is playing. Oduya still hasn't hit the stride that he did last regular season, but at the end of the day he does take a big load off Seabrook/Keith (along with Hammer who is playing great this year) which is definitely helping out all together. Having Rozsival/Brookbank as the #6/7 instead of Scott/Lepisto/O'Donnell is paying off big time as well. Two good signings this offseason in those two dmen.
A big game Friday versus a San Jose team that finally got a win versus St. Louis last night. Hopefully the return of Crawford/Carcillo can take place in this game as both have supposedly been skating, with Carcillo skating with the team.
