I really think he thought that ball was gonna drop. The OF wasn't close and the IF had his back to the ball. No blunder,imo, just one of those thing you take a chance on and doesn't work. He hangs at 1st, and the ball, drops, he's thrown out at 2nd. I think you will here him say that after the, too, imo. Bryant has great instincts on the base path.

Halfway to 2B doesn't mean on a lazy flyball barely out of the IF.

Probably worth while gamble honestly. If they catch that and he doesn't try it you're 2 outs with La Stella up. If it falls you're first and second with 1 out and a chance to really break the game open.
