I think the Cubs have a great opportunity to move on. It's disappointing that this game isn't at Wrigley, but if Jake is Jake Wednesday evening, I think the matchup favors the Cubs. Cole is a fantastic pitcher, but I think the Cubs hitters will eventually get to him. Cubs win 3-1 and on to St Louis. That's my prediction.

Overall numbers:

Basically for the Cubs... score 2 and you're good.

Against the Pirates? 1 should do it!

It's kinda sad that one of these two teams has to go home after this game. Arguably these two teams are the best in the Major Leagues right now and one of them is going to be out real quick. At the mid point of the year it looked like St. Louis was going to cruise to the NL Central title with no real competition and the Bucs actually gave them a run for their money. The Cubs of course were right behind, playing the best ball of the second half. I don't think the Cardinals should look forward to playing either of these teams, no matter who wins.

Hope you read this, tribar.

I'm just trying to root for the Cubs and you're making it very difficult with your childish antics.
You need to keep this stupid shit in the Bears forum.

Good lord, stop acting like fucko's. Get back on topic. Its been 7 years since a meaningful game for the Cubs. Enjoy the ride and talk ball. PM each other if y'all want to play grab ass.

Honest to god. The last two days around here have been tough. Wednesday looks like an epic game with two great pitchers and the second and third best teams in baseball separated over a 162 game season by 1 game. If people want to spend the winter being childish be my guest but it ain't winter yet. We've got ourselves a real team and a real game on our hands folks. Keep your eye on the prize.

I hope the MLB realizes that 162 games leading to 1 game isn't enough for this "play-in" game. I'd like to see a best of 3 for the WC, if that means scheduling a few extra double headers during the year to make this happen. You have two teams that are playing a one game that would easily be winning divisions except the one they're in.

Or you eliminate divisions and take the top 4 teams.

All sports should be this way.

Divisions shouldn't do anything except guarantee you a playoff spot in my opinion. But you shouldn't have rights to seeding or HFA.

Same goes for the NFL.

Anyone want to predict the lineup? Remember, righties actually hit Cole better then lefties.

Shot in the dark but

Fowler
Schwarber
Bryant
Rizzo
Castro
Montero
Russell
Arrieta
Cogs

Its kind of hard to predict because this seems to be his favorite type of lineup. But, I don't know if he would trust Baez to start or Soler. Soler has been struggling. Russell is in their for D. I can see him subbing Baez later in the game if we have lead for defense.

This seems pretty odd. You claimed that righties hit Cole better than lefties and you subsequently loaded the Cubs' lineup with lefties. :D
