Boys, I'm pretty sure the point is, our offense isn't very good, and neither are our starters...and today, our bullpen wasn't either...

At least our defense wa......he did what? Nevermind.

Thats on Quade not Byrd lol. You cant get mad at him and want to cut him because the manager doesnt use him right.

No but Byrd isn't that good overall to be honest. We should have traded him last year.

Regardless I think Jackson if Jackson does well in April he should be up. Byrd is not here long term and honestly not that good.

Welcome!

Sweet Lou tried Byrd off as lead off last year and if I recall correctly, it didn't go so hot. Castro impressed me today as the lead off guy. He's not a terrible option for the time being. Byrd is definitely not a 3-hole hitter though, that's for sure. In this lineup, he should be batting about 6th. I like Rami in the 4 spot, assuming he heats up and puts up Rami numbers. Pena i think will be fine in the 5th spot.

Thank You and I was refering to Brett Jackson if he gets the call up batting leadoff not Byrd. I would like to try him at lead off. I really dont want Byrd batting leadoff I perfer Fukudome for now. But it is an area that needs adressed.

I agree Byrd should be further down in the order.

Say what you want, he was the best player we had last year. Hustled more, made more defensive plays, and played more games than anybody else I believe...May not be awesome, but was the best of the worst.....

It was a career year.

Hustle doesn't equal performance though.

He was great last year but I would like to trade him when he has value.

While I understand the premise, if you do that all the time, you never have superstar players.... no superstar players = no playoffs, homie...

Yeah but Byrd is no superstar and you have probably five capable outfielders.

Byrd is a journeyman having a career year he should have been moved.

Regardless he should not be hitting three.

I agree he shouldn't be hitting 3rd, but I'm saying, you can't trade guys b/c they had a career year...they have to build with him. Not around him by any means, but he has to be a piece of the puzzle. He's the best all-around outfielder we have

He gave up 12 hits to the pirates. 12 hits in 6 innings. That is a joke.

They were all singles. I agree you can't give up runs. He also had 0 walks in 7 innings. 0 walks in 7 innings. That is a fact.

So he is good because he gave up hits instead of walks?

Hits which were singles. One of the strangest 16 hit games ever, where all the hits were singles.

They weren't well hit. I am not a fan of garza but was very happy with his performance today.

Only 3 games but very similar problems as last year. Offense cant make good contact with runners on base. 2nd and 3rd NO outs and cant score...1st and 3rd 1 out dont score...those come back to bite you. Seems the Cubs just cant make a qualitity out. They all think they need 3 run HR..
