I've questioned how the scenario would play out with a breakaway penalty... But I never knew that was the actual rule to give it a goal.

I don't recollect seeing that anytime before.

I was the same way...Wondered if they'd go to the trouble of giving him a "penalty shot" w/ no goalie...or just award the goal...

I was at the game... An amazing experience! The banner ceremony was outstanding and I was in a suite at the west end so I could see the entire crowd perfectly with the wrist band lights... WOW!!

Since the team is so good across the board and has depth, plus the fact that it is so early in the season, I don't put much stock into tonight. The only thoughts I have is that faceoffs need to improve, atleast in our own zone.... and I'm not worked up about the PK yet. Washington usually has a great regular season PP and I could see why. Playing Ovi at the left point lets him have free reign to move down into the deep circle, which he did constantly.

Anyways, good win and a lot of great memories for me tonight!

^^^ They definitely upped the ceremony from the last time. Was definitely unique in my opinion and cool to be at.

Not much to comment on, as you said, because just one game in. Thought Saad looked good and the powerplay seemed like they were looking to shoot more than cycle, which should only lead to good things as long as there is traffic.

Was just nice to watch a game that mattered again and be on the edge of my seat.

Yeah, the whole thing was just a total show of class by this franchise and will probably be the template or at least the standard for future banner raising not only the Hawks but other teams as well. Using the ice as a reflector was way cool and I was LOL when they tried to sneak the intro of Bettman in with the behind the scene personel. Didn't work, he still got boo'ed.

I agree their depth will get them far.
