Most people don't have a Passport so I should expect to see much lower crowds at the airport come April 2016 right?

The illinois driver's license won't be considered valid id at airports.

Huh? A valid drivers license is not good enough for travel? I live in California. Is this going to affect all states? I do have a passport but that is ust plain stupid.

This has been an issue in New Mexico as long as I've lived here. Basically what it's about is congress punishing the few states who issue driver's licenses to people without green cards. So yeah, I get to bring a passport with me every time I fly somewhere too.

Ya mean like California who gives them to anyone that wants one with no proof of residency.

I have one. The point is that it is annoying on the state's part that they haven't taken care of this in the 10+ years they have had to do so

Maybe they want to reduce foot traffic at O'hare.

There are probably quite a few people that have no intention of leaving the country that will need to get a passport now if they want to fly.
