My concern with him was always his hockeyIQ--It usually floats somewhere between Deron Quint and Victor Stalberg. His injury notwithstanding but I was worried this year that even healed he would make a lot of boneheaded plays.

I counted only one so far this year. The kid has been on fire and if he keeps this up, "Verpass" won't be used as an insult.

I'll take that helping of Crow.

Deron Quint refernce! Outstanding. Looking forward to you calling someone Denis Arkhipov in the future.

Debate... Who has better hands...... Kane or Versteeg?
If you're referring to skin texture and nail upkeep, no idea. If you are referring to stick-handling/passing/pass receiving, you may need to see a doctor about the bimp upon your head.

Note: The last line must be read in Clouseau's voice. (Peter Sellers only)

No one has better hands that Patrick Kane. The puck never leaves his stick until he wants it to.

I'll admit... I wasn't too excited about getting Versteeg back. I know he was coming off of knee injury but still felt he was done.

Vergiveaway has become Verawesome with Kane/Richards.

Glad he's back and glad I was wrong!

As big of a hard-on as I have for Versteeg right now, it's Kaner -- all-day long.

Versteeg still has amazing hands though, don't get me wrong.

O/T, on another message board when talking about Edmonton, I did make an Arkhipov reference--specifically that the Oilers are about as bad as the Pullford/Wirtz 'hawks when Arkhipov wore #19. In a potential matchup between the Oilers and Oil Kings I would give serious thought to backing the WHL, but I digress.

Back on topic. I think Kane has better hands--there's a reason Kane get 10.5 next year and Versteeg's making 4 total. Still, Versteeg is tougher...I've actually seen him fight way back when--I know it was against the Coyotes and he got an extra penalty for no fight strap. I'm still hoping someday in the future Kane can go with St. Louis, Gionta, or some other small player (the hockey equivalent to Midget Wrestling), but I doubt it would happen. Still, it would piss off the Kumbaya Anti-fighting coalition peaceniks, which is always a good thing.

I hope Versteeg keeps this play up--He's using his brain, his wheels, and his hands for some good things with Kane and nothing but good can come of it.

Versteeg said after his trade to Toronto he would give Kaner his first fight when they met in a game. With his injuries I don't even recall if Steeger ever had a game vs the Hawks. He must of one of the games for Florida I think but that never happened. There's no need for Kane to ever get into a fight, it's a minimizing trend anyway. Nobody is even gonna try to fight Kane unless somehow he lingers around the crease and wacks a goalie out with his stick.

A side note, I bet if Steeger was struggling this year, you would have a loud contingent of people bitching about the Hayes situation. Especially after Kevin had a great play last night and Jimmy has been getting lots of points on the crumby Florida lineup.

I know if Versteeg was struggling this year I would be vocal...I'll admit it.

But I try never to judge play on one team with play on another...different systems and all of that. Sometimes players look better after a trade, sometimes worse. I don't think either Hayes, Stalberg, Leddy, etc. would guarenteed have the same performance or better on our team this year had they stayed. Maybe they would, maybe they wouldn't have. For ever Leddy there's an Ellison.

Nope you were right. Never second guess yourself again you are too smart. Everyone else was wrong from the get go.

Ill give you a pass on this one...dont let it happen again. Steeg sucks and has been yet another botched Stan deal.

I think they are very important threads to show how shitty stan bowman has been and how fans have been suckered into Hawks player PR.

Its pretty obvious that Stan is still riding on Dales shoulders. Nothing Stan has done has impacted this team positively. He couldnt even hang onto his boy leddy and keeps leaning on Saad as his greatest draft pick. Pathetic.

Brad Richards has been stan only good move and any chump could have signed him for a million bucks for a year.
