He’s a salesmen not a coach

I posted this before in a thread, but he got a six figure real estate job without having any previous experience only because he "sold" the owner(who never met him before) on the fact that he could sell a house.

It was six figures base, no commission. What a mad man. Seriously. There is no one in that industry who would offer that job to a rookie. The guy was making 8+ grand a month even if he didn't sell a single house.

Nagy is like the manager of the new glitzy restaurant that opens in a small town and everyone can't wait to try it. You go and the vibe is cool, atmosphere is poppin', the owner is gregarious, handing out drinks, dancing with the patrons, you don't even notice that the food is just, meh.
Then the best chef gets a better job, his replacement is Billie Ray from Denny's, the employees get tired of the manager not knowing a thing about restaurants and now he just sitting drunk at a bar stool nightly, blaming the waiters in slurring rants for the bad reviews and empty tables. The financial backers are too chickenshit to fire him, so now you are stuck with an expensive shit sandwich or traveling to another city for seafood, which you don't even like just to get out for a Sunday lunch date.

Somebody slept well last night. Firing on all cylinders.

I didn’t know about that but that’s crazy. Nagy would be fine as an assistant of some sort who draws up some plays here and there and offers some input on play designs. But calling plays, game planning, developing players, scheming around your talent, and making late game decisions is so far out his wheelhouse, I have no idea how he’s still a HC. Just speaks volumes about the dysfunction and incompetence inside Halas hall

The Lions have a long history of being terrible.

With that being said 2021 will be different. They are in full rebuild, so there are no expectations on them. I'm not saying they will be good this year or even in the immediate future, but as a fan the bar is set so low they won't be let down.

I would rather be the Lions at this point. At least they are serious about rebuilding.

They've been rebuilding since Sanders retired

Stupid Bears making the playoffs two out of three years. We could have three decades of total irrelevance like the Lions!

Yeah, I mean how did Vince Lombardi not get ripped for this?

“Winning is not a sometime thing; it’s an all the time thing. You don’t win once in a while; you don’t do things right once in a while; you do them right all the time. Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing.

There is no room for second place. There is only one place in my game, and that’s first place...

But more importantly, you’ve got to play with your heart, with every fiber of your body. If you’re lucky enough to find a guy with a lot of head and a lot of heart, he’s never going to come off the field second...

To know the rules and objectives when they get in the game. The object is to win fairly, squarely, by the rules – but to win.

I don’t say these things because I believe in the “brute” nature of man or that men must be brutalized to be combative. I believe in God, and I believe in human decency. But I firmly believe that any man’s finest hour – his greatest fulfillment to all he holds dear – is that moment when he has to work his heart out in a good cause and he’s exhausted on the field of battle – victorious.” - Vince Lombardi

I mean it's basically the 1970's version of this:

"We’re gonna kick you in the teeth, and when you punch us back we’re gonna smile at you, and when you knock us down we’re going to get up, and on the way, we’re going to bite a kneecap off," Campbell said Thursday. "We’re going to stand up, and it’s going to take two more shots to knock us down. And on the way up, we’re going to take your other kneecap, and we’re going to get up, and it’s gonna take three shots to get us down. And when we do, we’re gonna take another hunk out of you."

Truth is, as great a coach as Lombardi was, he was actually a pretty big asshole

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Bears
The difference between the Bears and the Lions is that they draft higher than we do. Other than that, we're both loser organizations with losers in charge and a loser mentality. Fun.

My 14 year old niece has entered into the super emo phase of her childhood. Everything is life or death level disappointment.

She's still not as emo as you.

Most great ones are, Lombardi, Knoll, Belichick. Tom Landry is the exception, possibly Bill Walsh.

Having the Lions always racing to the basement of the NFC North is not a worthy benchmark to compare ourselves too. It's like being happy that you have some ugly girl as your "safety date" for the weekend... you can try to use it as a bragging point but it really is more telling that we are bragging about something that sad.

I have never done this, but this is going in my signature. You could threaten to cut off my favorite nut and I would never think that or post that.
