A lot of people confuse bodybuilding/bodyshaping with adding muscle mass. Those who take everything to an extreme to find an understanding will often do such.

Technically speaking adding muscle mass is bodybuilding.

But the dumb statement in question was about Lebron James.

Technically speaking, no. If you start to blur that line, we will continue to have misconceptions in sports science.

I added 40lbs of muscle when I was a ranger. In no way shape or form did I resemble a bodybuilder nor did I bodybuild as it is defined by webster's, as the developing of the physique for exhibition.

So you built 40lb of muscle onto your body, but it wasn't bodybuilding. I'm not talking about competing in a thong bro.

bod·y·build·ing   /ˈbɒdiˌbɪldɪŋ/ Show Spelled[bod-ee-bil-ding] Show IPA
noun
the act or practice of exercising, lifting weights, etc., so as to develop the muscles of the body.

If you want to blur the lines by inserting your own interpretation to websters definition, and ignoring the history of bodybuilding and what it means, then sure... whatever you say.

Try the more elaborated definition sometime.

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/bodybuilding

Definition of BODYBUILDING
: the developing of the body through exercise and diet; specifically : the developing of the physique for competitive exhibition

I'm not blurring the lines of anything. You can build your body, without competing in bodybuilding. If you don't understand that, I'm sorry. I can't really explain any other way.

Bodybuilding =/= Competetive bodybuilding

I will lol @ you for saying I'm inserting my own interpretation when I posted the fucking definition from dictionary.com to pacify you.

Wow, you can't handle a hit to your ego. LOL insecure much? I provided the definition before you, and used an older and more accurate source. You inserted that I implied competitive bodybuilding, which I did not.

You don't have to go to a gym and do reps/sets to build muscle.

weight training =/= bodybuilding

weight lifting =/= bodybuilding

I built muscle today. I slowed down though. But mostly because I'm old.

Insecure about what? I'm not insecure, I think you're not smart.

Had Ronnie Coleman gotten huge, taken steroids, and cut to 6% body fat.. but not gotten on stage to compete according to you he would not be a bodybuilder.

You don't have to compete to be a bodybuilder. All you have to do, is build your body.

I provided the definition before you, and used an older and more accurate source.

More accurate according to what?

You inserted that I implied competitive bodybuilding, which I did not.

So what the **** is competitive exhibition?

You don't have to go to a gym and do reps/sets to build muscle.

Where did I imply that you did?

weight training =/= bodybuilding

weight lifting =/= bodybuilding

If doing it right.. false.

BRB, building 40lbs of muscle onto my body.. but not body building.

Don't worry, I am happier to not have your endorsement.

Had Ronnie Coleman gotten huge, taken steroids, and cut to 6% body fat.. but not gotten on stage to compete according to you he would not be a bodybuilder.
Nope, not at all what I had said.

You don't have to compete to be a bodybuilder. All you have to do, is build your body.
For the purpose of exhibition. If I live on a farm, am I a farmer?

More accurate according to what?
webster's

So what the **** is competitive exhibition?
I don't know, google if you want to know, I never said competitive exhibition, you did.

Where did I imply that you did?
I didn't imply. LOL

If doing it right.. false.
If you're willfully ignorant....sure.

BRB, building 40lbs of muscle onto my body.. but not body building.

K, see you in 5 years since you aren't bodybuilding.
