A lot of people confuse bodybuilding/bodyshaping with adding muscle mass. Those who take everything to an extreme to find an understanding will often do such.
Technically speaking adding muscle mass is bodybuilding.
Technically speaking, no. If you start to blur that line, we will continue to have misconceptions in sports science.
I added 40lbs of muscle when I was a ranger. In no way shape or form did I resemble a bodybuilder nor did I bodybuild as it is defined by webster's, as the developing of the physique for exhibition.
So you built 40lb of muscle onto your body, but it wasn't bodybuilding. I'm not talking about competing in a thong bro.
bod·y·build·ing /ˈbɒdiˌbɪldɪŋ/ Show Spelled[bod-ee-bil-ding] Show IPA
noun
the act or practice of exercising, lifting weights, etc., so as to develop the muscles of the body.

The only misconception, is yours.
If you want to blur the lines by inserting your own interpretation to websters definition, and ignoring the history of bodybuilding and what it means, then sure... whatever you say.
Wow, you can't handle a hit to your ego. LOL insecure much?
I provided the definition before you, and used an older and more accurate source.
You inserted that I implied competitive bodybuilding, which I did not.
You don't have to go to a gym and do reps/sets to build muscle.
weight training =/= bodybuilding
weight lifting =/= bodybuilding
Don't worry, I am happier to not have your endorsement.Insecure about what? I'm not insecure, I think you're not smart.
Nope, not at all what I had said.Had Ronnie Coleman gotten huge, taken steroids, and cut to 6% body fat.. but not gotten on stage to compete according to you he would not be a bodybuilder.
For the purpose of exhibition. If I live on a farm, am I a farmer? You don't have to compete to be a bodybuilder. All you have to do, is build your body.
webster'sMore accurate according to what?
I don't know, google if you want to know, I never said competitive exhibition, you did.So what the **** is competitive exhibition?
I didn't imply. LOLWhere did I imply that you did?
If you're willfully ignorant....sure.If doing it right.. false.
K, see you in 5 years since you aren't bodybuilding.BRB, building 40lbs of muscle onto my body.. but not body building.
