The Beef House near Covington IN has the best dinner rolls ever. Its a country steakhouse and it's amazing. Its around 30 min East of Lafayette.

About a mile from my house. Hands-down the best ice cream I've ever had. I have friends from Indianapolis that drive down 110 miles just to eat there.

I think you need to get to Indianapolis or further south. Off of the top of my head I think that Indy has several James Beard award nominees. R Bistro, Recess, Oakley's Bistro and Libertine. St. Elmo's Steakhouse is a Indianapolis institution. Black Market is also solid. Pizzology is great, too.. Further, south in Bloomington is Restaurant Tallent (also James Beard nominee). That's just off the top of my head.
