for one, I would take him all day long on the sox if some of that salary was eaten.

rothchild sure looked like a problem, i know one member will start an uproar hearing bad things about larry because he got his pitchers k's to raise.

hmmmmm........maybe thats why wood didnt sign with nyc.

I could never understand y the Cubs had Rothchild on the payroll to begin with, I think he ruined both Prior and Wood, but others point to Dusty as the culprit.

How do we judge teams per season..WINS....so yes they do matter. tired of guys saying wins dont matter. Rather have a guy with 21 wins 3.30 ERA over a guy with 12 wins 2.30 ERA....thats 9 more wins for the TEAM. That could make difference of PLAYOFFS or no playoffs

Is this a serious statement? :shifty:

ok, real quick, if a guy has 21 wins with a 3.30 era and the other guy has 12 wins with a 2.30 era, the better pitcher is the one with the 2.30 era with 12 wins, the other lad is getting more run support from his team to grant him those extra wins.

Wins only matter if you pitch well..

So you've gotta do well in the other categories and have your offense help you to wins..

Only 40% of Wins are actually from staring pitchers.

The only wins that I give full credit to pitchers for are complete games. W-L is the RBI of pitching. Too many scenerios are out of their control.

I don't see how the pitching coach has any effect on an injury. Their problems were in the way they threw the ball. While it worked, it caused a high risk of injury. Sure the pitching coach could change that, but Woody and Prior could also tell him to **** off. They had success with their throwing motions, why would they change? I can understand the Dusty thing, because he throws his pitchers way too many innings.
I'm seriously pumped about Rothschild leaving. All I always heard was how good of a pitching coach he was but then guy a like Wellemeyer goes to Dave Duncan and succeeds.

That's one guy... who had one good year.

He never played for the Cubs. I'm not saying Duncan isn't a good pitching coach, I think he's great. I'm saying Hendry is also one of the best in the business.

Back to Lohse... that is such an awful contract. He has had one good year, which wasn't even anything special and he is making nearly 12 MM this coming year.

Lohse just flat out sucks. Who the hell would sign a guy with "Lose" in his name if you take out one letter?

I know Lohse never played for the cubs. I was suggesting another guy who was able to figure it out in STL.

lohse is a stroke. over paid, over rated.

Agree. Again, I was not suggesting he is any good, rather giving credit to Duncan.
