Tom Benson, new New Orleans Hornets owner, would like to change the team

New Orleans new owner, Tom Benson, is making one of his top priorities, a franchise name change. He is going to make a case for restoring the name to the Jazz, among considering other name options. He is also supportive of the Charlotte Bobcats restoring the name as well to the Hornets, if that is the direction Charlotte wants to go in.

I would like to see Charlotte be the Hornets again.
And jazz and New Orleans fit perfectly.
Almost seems natural.

But what the hell will the Jazz change there name to?
The "Salt Lake City Mormons"?
:dunno:
Would there new logo look like this? :

Typical team names are something that people find to be scary.

How about the Utah Flamers?

That's because The Utah Jazz were in New Orleans up until about the early 80's, I think.

Charlotte Hornets.
New Orleans Jazz.
Utah Blizzard? Utah Mounties? B.C Utah (1st NBA team to go to the soccer style name)? Utah Snow Angels?

I'm still mad that Utah went back to the Mardi Gras color scheme.

I'm with everyone esle on the Hornets going back to Charlotte. Get rid of the Bobcats. Sounds like a high school girls team name anyway. As far as I'm concerned they can go to the depths of hell. And by hell, I don't mean Detroit.

I'm betting no names are changed. This dude wants to change the name of 3 teams in the NBA. Yea good luck with that buddy.

No, he's floating the idea. He wants to change the New Orleans name for sure, but to get 2 or 3 teams total, that is the longshot. However, maybe Charlotte will follow suit and the Jazz will stay with Utah.

The Utah Jazz would be idiots if they changed their team name but I'm OK with the Hornets and Boncats changing team names because both have sucked and have no winning history.

If New Orleans somehow gets the ok to change their name back to Jazz, Utah will have no other option than to change their name.

If they get the ok to change their name, they simply wouldn't use Jazz.

New Orleans would have to offer Utah a lot of money to get that name, because it certainly carries a value, and Utah wouldn't necessarily agree to it.

Maybe they can be the New Orleans SuperSonics :troll:

This Tom Benson is being persistent, but he is fairly logical. I kind of like owners that think outside of the box.
