my wife has an iPad that she bought after her mom gave her $$ for Christmas two years ago. She wishes she would have spent in on something else; she rarely uses it.

Also, iPads are glorified iPhones, they're not computers. You can't do the things a regular computer can do like download files.

So I guess it depends on what your needs are.

I got my wife one for christmas and shoe loves it (32G Ipad 2)

I also got her a Zaggfolio and its almost like a little laptop she uses it a shit ton for school

When my 1st laptop crapped out I took the plunge and got an iPad 1. I love it's portability and power, it does so many things well. The only thing that pisses me off is Apple not allowing flash applications to run on Apple products. It is a lil pricey but I have had no major problems with it does everything I need and more. Otherwise it has been a great investment. I've played with other tablets but perfer the iPad. Plus, besides the massive advertising that Apple does, there has to be a reason why in public I see far more iPads than any other tablet device. By a 4 to 1 clip easy. Hope this helps a little bit.
