Quick Question:

Is Niemi still good?

He is somewhere in between huet and a 43 year old sober khabibulin.

So no

Not too sure if Neimi was ever "good" myself. But others will disagree. Horrible rebound control..horrible.

That kind of sucks. I always liked "**** CITY"

We nicknamed my first born "ANTI NAPPY" after she was born during the first stanley cup playoff run 5 years ago.

Ehh...I though the book on him in 2010 was "High Glove". Still, he was nominated for a Vezina in 2013. I bet he gets between 7.5% and 8.5% of the cap on his next deal. He's right around the Fleury standard.

I think thats the book on every goalie lol. Its the only critic of goalies i ever hear. Legit bad glove sides are guys like jake allen. Niemis isnt great but its not as horrible as some make it out to be. Crawford still has a bad glove hand according to some which in my opinion is horribly untrue unless one only looks at his first season on the club. Like crawford, niemis glove hand has improved over the years. Niemis rebound control though? Skeeeetchy in my opinion. Raanta reminds me of Niemi in that department ( which as one can see in my previous post i fruedian slipped..or crashed.

My issue with Crawford is rebound control. His glove hand is fine on the initial strike if the defense is doing their job. In some ways Crawford is the ideal goalie for a back and forth fast break game if anybody wants to play with us. The trap teams that take the time to get physical in front of the net and sustain attacks into that second and third rebound give us issues. Anybody wants to run with us gets trounced.

Darling proved he can be a wrinkle, a change-up so to speak if necessary. I believe Crow is a good to great goalie at certain skills, and he matches up excellent against certain foes. The Wild have been one of them in the past despite the traps.

I agree--every eunuch out there who pines for Niemi to come back to Chicago because "Crawford has a weak glove", were the same ones complainging about Niemi's weak glove.

Still, Niemi won a cup and was nominated for a Vezina. He's 70th all time on SV% (behind Dr. Craw at 66 and both are higher than Quick, Miller, and MAF overall--Mathemagic stats be damned). His career is not horrible by any stretch of the imagination. Like I said--someone will give him between 7.5% and 8.5% of the cap. I'd be surprised if he got much more (What have you done, lately?) or less.

Can I still pine for him back on the hawks because he is more fun to watch than Crawford?

Feel free to. I still pine for the days that guys like Probert, Grimson, Twist, and Hextall roamed the ice and love to think about how they would deal with guys like Avery, Ott, & Torres.

Crawford kicks his rebounds out to his defenders, that's good rebound control.

Nemo on the other hand just kicks pucks

I thought you were supposed to kick rebounds out to the corners and away from traffic?
