Best damn Running QB the Bears have ever had, even better than Bobby Douglas.

I don't consider JF a "Running QB" per se. I view the "running" and or mobility as one of the tools JF has at his disposal when he doesn't get adequate pass pro.

In terms of runners......Don't forget Vince Evans. Of course, Bobby Douglas would take off and run through defenders like the Juggernaut ?? ? @0:08

This was one hell of a fun game by Vince Evans…

“Evans led the rout, completing 18 of 22 passes for 316 yards and three touchdowns in only his 11th NFL start. It was the first time a Bears quarterback had thrown for more than 300 yards in 10 years and the only time since at least 1960 that a Bears player had compiled a perfect 158.3 passer rating.
Evans, who had been selected by the Bears in the sixth round of the 1977 draft, threw touchdown passes of four yards to Brian Baschnagel, nine yards to Robin Earl and 53 yards to Rickey Watts.”

Just stopped by to say I was alive and watching the Bears (often in person) during the Bobby Douglas years and from what I recall Douglas was an inaccurate passer with no touch who rifled every throw. No one felt as hopeful about the Bears' prospects then as many of us do now. It was a time when you could comfortably take the under on 20 points being scored in a division game. But by all means, Fields haters, carry on hating.

Douglass was awful. He had one excellent game in his whole career. He threw four touchdown passes against the Bills, three of them after breaking the wrist on his throwing hand.

I've been told for a while now around these parts that Mako Mitch was and is not only the best Bears QB, but the best QB of the 2017 draft class.

Nobody has told you that, dumb ****
He's right. When i returned here in 2019 there were people saying he was better than Watson because he was winning more and that Patrick Mahomes was a product of the talent around them.

Anyways its still a dumb post because Fields has shown so much more than Mitch ever did.

If Craig Krenzel isn't in your top three to QB the Bears (ever) you have no place to talk.

Fucking banter on Christmas Day. I won't have it.

It’s taken Fields 24 games to crack 4K passing yards.

This franchise is in sorry shape right now.

Yep. I feel like many fans are enamored with Fields' running ability and are certain he's a shoe-in to be great.

Kinda reminds me of the hysteria with Cutler's cannon arm. So it turns out if you can chuck the ball 75 yards that doesn't mean you're destined for greatness. There's so much more involved in being a great QB...being outstanding at one aspect of the game isn't enough.

Fields hasn't shown he's a great passer going into year 3. He'll get better support next year, so maybe he'll breakout...but what do you say if he's still putting up 150 yard games next year in losses? The excuses get tiring.
