Is Kevin Warren the reason the Bears are doing things differently lately?

I'll say off the bat that I'm not a big Kevin Warren guy. He strikes me as an ego-driven, self-legacy/self-important maniac who loves to bullshit and is probably difficult to personally work with.

That said, I can't help but look at the way the Bears have done business since his arrival and think, Shit man, maybe he has a lot more outsized effect on the organization's workings than many have thought?

*Fire a coach in-season. Very unBearslike.
*Talking about sparing no expense on a world-class stadium. Very unBearslike.
*Hire an offensive coach instead of a meatball or brane-damaged candidate no one's ever heard of. Very unBearslike.
*Hire a coach before he even steps foot in Halas Hall and sees Virginia's personal dialysis machine. Very unBearslike.

Do some folks who have written off Warren owe him a second look? Maybe the dude is actually changing shit at Halas Hall? Maybe there's finally a grown-up in charge?

Food for thought.

Yes to everything you said, both the bad and the good.

Yes Warren has unlocked George, matching that passion with decision making and budget. George is like “oh shit! I can run the nfl!”

What we had to learn is that he is a businessman and politician. When he speaks to the media don’t trust what he says, trust what he does.

All the things I listed in the original post. Never said anything about winning.
I’m just being a pessimist. All this positive feeling shit gets me uncomfortable. This team will suck until they prove it on the field. Tired of the hopeful/letdown/hopeful/letdown cycle

So you saying Virigina knew she was going to live past 100 and could wait until she was 102 to get serious about winning?

You would think unless she is psychic she would have started worrying about this at 75, 80, 85, 90, 95 or 100.

But hey maybe she is a witch and used virgin blood to prolong her life and she is running out of stock and thus needs to win now.

You may be onto something. I also think Poles realized that he fucked up with the OL, and his coaching choices, and probably had ONE more chance to save his own ass. This was it. Get Ben and he stays, and depending on how this year goes (FA, draft, OL) he could get an extension. He was skating on thin ice. If we ended up with some crappy coach and Caleb didn't progress, he was going to be out. So, I think it's a bit of both. And maybe George finally saw the light, and heard all of the cries of "sell the team."

I'm not a big Warren fan, but I admit I thought the Bears would botch this hire and they actually got the guy they wanted. So hopefully things are pointing up. But until the results on the field change, I'm not ready to say things have improved. The reality is that they currently have a HC who has never coached a game in the NFL and a GM with the worst W/L record in franchise history....and they still play in Soldier Field.
