Is Kevin Warren the reason the Bears are doing things differently lately?

Heard Robert Mays say on the Athletic Football Show that Poles was taking point on interviews so I think Warren had little to do with the choice. The perspective came from someone who went through an interview this cycle.

I'll say off the bat that I'm not a big Kevin Warren guy. He strikes me as an ego-driven, self-legacy/self-important maniac who loves to bullshit and is probably difficult to personally work with.

That said, I can't help but look at the way the Bears have done business since his arrival and think, Shit man, maybe he has a lot more outsized effect on the organization's workings than many have thought?

*Fire a coach in-season. Very unBearslike.
*Talking about sparing no expense on a world-class stadium. Very unBearslike.
*Hire an offensive coach instead of a meatball or brane-damaged candidate no one's ever heard of. Very unBearslike.
*Hire a coach before he even steps foot in Halas Hall and sees Virginia's personal dialysis machine. Very unBearslike.

Do some folks who have written off Warren owe him a second look? Maybe the dude is actually changing shit at Halas Hall? Maybe there's finally a grown-up in charge?

Food for thought.
I think it's a mix. For instance we were told it was Poles idea to lose Flus midseason. Now did he feel better about doing that because warren agreed before presenting that to George? You know, the embarrassing delay.

Interesting listen. Warren was asked if he was worried about Brady and basically said as diplomatically as possible he is the GOAT QB but knows **** all about how to run a team. Best he can say is dude is smart and graduated from the Big 10 but was struggling to think of any reason why he should be worried about him as a football exec.

I’m just being a pessimist. All this positive feeling shit gets me uncomfortable. This team will suck until they prove it on the field. Tired of the hopeful/letdown/hopeful/letdown cycle
That's exactly where I'm at. I will take note of the coaches he hires. Will the defensive coordinator be a 3-4 guy or a 4-3 guy? I will pay attention to the draft, though it's likely to anger me again should we continue to ignore the offensive line. Something tells me Poles has learned his lesson there to some degree, but it will still be what I'm most interested until the 2025 season starts.

As for Warren, I think he hates losing with a passion, and that drives some of his decisions. Impassioned motivation is one thing, impetuous action without a plan is quite another. I'm not yet sure where he is on the spectrum.

Warren's work on the stadium is puzzling. in some ways he's proven to be quite intelligent, while in other ways one wonders if he's a knucklehead. He's playing the best hand that he was dealt: he inherited a situation where the team invested a substantial amount of money for land before they had a deal in place without reaching key financial agreements with the municipality. The decision to purchase the land should have been after things like revenues and school taxes were already inked. So he's doing the best he can there by extolling the virtues of a downtown stadium, etc.

On the other hand I remember seeing a video when he was having meetings discussing colours and furnishings for something like the bar in the new stadium, and I was thinking "dude, what in tarnation are you talking about? Settle the important question first." But then again maybe I'm wrong, and that too was all about giving the appearances of being prepared to move on, when really everyone knows Arlington sorta has the team by the jewels.

Basically with Warren this is the first time in a very long time the Bears have actually hired their HC themselves. The whole process of using the likes of Accorsi and Polian to choose previous HCs was incredibly flawed.

Firstly these guys are retired, what qualifies them to make decisions on the current NFL? Secondly they have zero accountability, if it goes wrong why do they give a f*ck? Thirdly they have no loyalty to the Bears.

The hiring of Eberflus was a disgrace. The guy had no personality, no gravitas, no track record strong enough to merit being HC anywhere. Nobody wanted him.

He was totally and utterly out of his depth. Eberflus was chosen from the Colts by Colts guy Polian before the Bears own GM had even been hired. Hopefully that hire and the results that followed were the low point.

George no doubt has the Bears interests at heart, but he is a weak man who needs to be told what to do. If Warren is the reason for him getting his sh*t together and behaving like a proper owner then thank f*ck he’s here, because I couldn’t take anymore of that shit.
