There's not a lot of other ways to read that. On one hand I hope its not true but on the other hand Pace basically grows runningbacks on trees its probably the easiest position for the Bears to replace.

I dont know, maybe he's just feeling gregarious? Athletes have been tweeting shit like this for years and many times it winds up being totally innocuous. This particular instance, with the use of the past tense, is hard to read any other way than as a goodbye.

Montgomery is inexpensive for two more season and its a position with high attrition. Having a tandem or even trio of good runningbacks has worked very well for a lot of teams. Tampa Bay just won the Super Bowl with Fournette and Ronald Jones III.
