bwahahaha...not happening.

I can't see little Tommy Ricketts opening up the checkbook to get Pujols. It's probably for the better though, Pujols is 31 and not getting any younger. I wouldn't want to see the Cubs getting mixed up with another Soriano type contract where the Cubs are going to have Pujols until he's 137 years old.

I'm sure we will make an offer if he hits the market..

If thats the case, it probably won't be the best one. I know the Cubs current payroll is completely bloated and Ricketts' hands were tied to spend a lot of money this past offseason but I just don't have any faith in him. There's something about him that makes me feel like he's cheap. Not sure what that is but he didn't make me feel any better when he was asking the city to finance the renovations at Wrigley.

Do you trust a man who does something like this?.....

I like this squad. All this young talent...but in order for us to be contenders the vets gotta step it up.

The question "Will he ever hit for power?" The answer is no... I see a DL stint coming very soon and then more of the same we have seen so far from the guy. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't get to 20 HR's. But thank god he is only a stop gap for this season.

I love Pena. Nice guy, great glove, but he needs to find the power quick or the Cubs are going to take this .500 streak all the way up to 81-81.

Until then, hold out for Prince Fielder, since Pujols ain't coming.

Darwin Barney's the man. Love the middle infield. Cubs would compete all year if their guys who were supposed to be the big boppers in the lineup actually knocked in runs. Starlin was great leading off, but the fact that 3-5 have sucked took him out of that role.

Why don't think see him ever hitting for power? He has always, if nothing else, hit for power and drawn walks. I would be extremely surprised if he doesnt pass 20 homers. I think he's pressing and just hasn't gotten into a rhythm yet. I, too, am happy this is a one-year deal but he should produce. It would be an unforeseen face plant if he doesn't hit for power this season.

The REAL question here is...will carlos pena ever start hitting PERIOD.

Forget power... just get on base for once...Damn....hitting a whopping .169 with a OBP of .306, and also is slugging a .186

He has walked 12 times...OK I guess

Like everyone else has said at least he's a 1 year player for us(or maybe we trade him at deadline if not contending).

For 10 million...(Pena)waste...use that money to renovate wrigley a lil bit or make better use of it

He is 4th in the NL in BB%. like i said before, at least he IS getting on base. Once he starts hitting for power we will be in better shape. Let's just hope that happens sooner than later.

this will all be forgotten when he has a 2 HR game and hits 5 in a week. baseball is unpredictable, you can use fangraphs and projections all you want, you just never know. it is also fucking early as ****.
