Is Rose's injury a big deal?

Yes, it's a very big deal. The guy is not going to be back at 100% by the time the playoffs end. Anything that limits the lift on his jump-shot and his explosiveness is an extremely big deal.

I hate feeling like a panic-peddler, but frankly, I’m a little panicked. Rose has to be every bit the MVP for this season to now have more meaning than just a few fun months. A Stacey King description of “too big, too strong, still kinda fast and pretty good” won’t cut it.

Sprained ankles are common, indeed. It’s easy to dismiss their significance and severity as blithely as we do simple bumps and bruises.

But when it happens to Derrick Rose, it doesn’t matter that it’s common.

It matters that it matters.

ice ice baby & be ready hawks & bulls are gonna advance

Everyone at this point in the year is battling injuries, and as I mentioned in another thread, some players handle injuries better than others. The fact that Rose came back soon in game 4 says to me he's not that severely hurt.
However, I do think that Watson needs looser reins and more minutes to take the scoring load off of Rose.

This is a big deal and it's gonna be a problem that stays with rose until the bulls are either eliminated or crowned. And with a hindered Rose, I don't see this team going far. We need him to be on top of his game.

We must win tomorrow and begin getting some rest. Hopefully the magic can win a couple and prolong their series

I really wanted Orlando to win yesterday game because we would know that series would go 6 games for sure. Atlanta could take Game 5, and then the 2nd round will start alot quicker (Most likely the weekend). If Orlando-Atlanta go 7 games, Game 1 of the 2nd round would not start until Tuesday likely next week. So it would give us a full week off.

Of course, we need to finally put together a full good game and take care of the Pacers. Our guys need to step up. We need more contribution out of Gibson, Brewer, and Watson off the bench. Of course we'd all like Boozer to finally play up to par, but don't count on that too much.

Even if Rose is out for the Atlanta series, I could still see the Bulls beating Atlanta. The Bulls should have beaten Denver in the only game without Rose this season.

Uhhh...I doubt Rose misses any games. The key will be him resting up that ankle for an extended playoff run.

And the Bulls only nearly beat Denver because CJ Watson basically became Rose Jr. that game. We havent seen CJ play like that since.

BREAKING NEWS FROM 670 the Score

Derrick Rose will receive numbing shot for sprained ankle and WILL play in Game 5.

We all kind of figured that.

Is it a big deal? Yes of course it is...anytime your best player is battling an injury bad enough that he will take painkiller shots prior to the game, its a big problem

Those numbing shots kind of scare me. It will help Rose get through the pain. But it could potentially mean long-term health problems for that ankle. Maybe even for the rest of his career.

And, not that it's an issue, but there's no way the Bulls would beat ORL or ATL (as much as I find their styles of play to be ineffective) if Rose missed that entire series.

Thats why its important to win this Game 5 so rest can be given to Rose before the next series. If Atlanta were to win game 5, does anyone know when Game 1 would start then?

The schedules aren't set in stone so I couldn't tell you. And yeah, that is the main reason the Bulls need to worry about winning Game 5. But, man, if they somehow manage to lose that game... we will need to start worrying about this series, too, just a little bit...

Yeah, I know they're not set in stone. Based on looking at what happened last year as Cleveland and Boston both won their first round series 4-1. Game 1 of the second round for them began on May 1st (A Saturday). Its safe to say that Game 1 for Chi-Atl would then be April 30th (This Saturday). That leaves Rose with 3 days rest. If the Magic take Game 5, then Atlanta wins game 6..then Game 1 would probably be Sunday (Though it could still be Saturday).

I can't stand Dan Bernstein but he's right...there's some room for concern. I don't like the idea of the cortisone either, he could be damaging it more and not even know it.

I do enjoy the Boers and Bernstein show, but i dont agree with everything they say. Bernstein is a dumbass sometimes when he said he would trade Rose for John Wall when Wall was going number 1. I am not going to panic unless he tears something which he hasnt and he wont. That pain killing shot is just taking away any small pain he'll have. Series is gonna end tomorrow i am confident in that.
