Now that the Offseason championship is locked away...
Who will win the division during the regular season?

Factors to consider...
Detroit had the best offense in the division by over 100 points.
Minnesota gave up the least amount of points.
Green Bay's offense & defense was top 10 in points & yards...
Green Bay has also won the division the most over the last decade.

More Factors...
***The Bears scored +120 points less on offense... than every other team in the division.
***The Bears defense allowed only 38 points more than the best defense in the division.

Taking these factors into consideration...

What will it take to get out of last place and rise above each team in the division...
-AND-
What do the Bears need to do to go from worst to first overall?

IMHO, Det is the cream and the crop of the division. We'll have to watch them choke again in the playoffs.

I personally think JJ will be better than many others think and Minn will be 2nd place. JJ played well in the preseason before his injury.

The Bears and Packers should compete for 3rd place. Both should be near .500.

Have you considered that the Lions lost their entire coaching staff and are left with basically just the guy with the brown mouth and an OL coach?

Yes I have but they have lots of talent and the HC is better than what people want to give him credit for. The team respects him and his approach. I don't see how Det does not win the division easily. There will be a playoff choke though because -> Goff.

Respect is great and all but they literally lost an offensive mastermind genius that single handedly made Jared Goff a relevant QB after he was traded away for peanuts when McVay gave up on him.

Seems like they're kinda screwed if I'm being honest.

I think the division is in transition...

DET: Lost both coordinators, including the best OC in the game. No way both of their new coordinators are as good as their last two. I think they are going to take a half step backwards but still be very good.

MIN: They are replacing Sam Darnold, who was playing at an MVP level until the final 2 games last season, with a rookie QB in McCarthy who is coming off an injury. They were also 9-1 in one score games last year. That trend isn't repeating itself. I expect them to take a full step backwards.

CHEEZ-ITS: They have done little in free agency. Love was pretty mediocre and reckless last year, which is a trend I fully endorse and hope to see continue for many years to come. The Bears split the season series. I think they will continue to be a good team but not a great team.

BEARS: With Flus at the helm, somehow the Bears almost beat the Packers twice and the Lions and Vikings once. The Bears have made huge upgrades at HC and the interior of the OL. Caleb will be in his second year and he will be working with a guy in Johnson who appears to be an offensive genius.

VERDICT: Even though the schedule is BRUTAL, the Bears will be competitive in division until the end of the season. I expect the Lions to win the division and the Bears to get a wild card birth. If the Bears don't make the playoffs, I think it's due to a slow start as guys will be learning a new system on both sides of the ball early on. The Packers, including the preseason, will go 0-20.

This and LIons are not changing much with Morton who was brought in for continuity and to keep Goff on his trajectory. Should be some interesting meetings at Hallas Hall between our DC and HC before the next Lions game if the Loins mostly continue to run BJ's O..

Really difficult to predict. It did appear that the Vikes won a lot because of Darnold but I suspect it was more scheme and obvious decisions. McCarthy seems smart and may do about as well plus, they have a VG roster. That said they won't win every close game again like last year.

I think GB takes a step back now that we've seen their warts. Lions still have the most talent but... also still the Lions.

The schedule for all these teams is brutal....................Think the winner of the North will have 11 or 12 wins. Really don't give a shit about the other teams in this division, only hope the Bears improve, are competitive, and win some games.

Let's see what the draft brings the Bears and go from there.

Bears just have to beat the Lions twice and Johnson should have an advantage.

Fanboy talking.

We're really close to the same page, so I'm going to just steal your words and add to it.

First things first, we got fukked again with the schedule:

Luckily, our whole division is pretty rough. We're all in the top 5.

DET: Nothing really to add. They get to prove if DC is the man behind the offense or if the new OC can innovate cause BJ can otherwise feed everything to Allen. They have to adapt. That said, so much talent that they are clearly the team to beat. I don't think they'll have a massive regression in year 1 under new coordinators. They'll get a lot of important players back from injury too.

MIN: Maybe the most overrated team out there. It keeps surprising me that people think they're a big threat. I'm glad their schedule is hard now cause it was easy last year. They beat two playoff teams all year and had the 6th easiest strength of schedule in the league. They're also probably the oldest team in the league (unverified) and barely infusing any young talent into that roster. So, instead of seeing players get better, we should actually see them regress, or at the best, stay the same. That's in terms of team net growth. They also added 3 guys that are 30+ this offseason and kept old guys like Jones and Harrison Smith. They're doing all they can to get older instead of younger. They also already traded away a 2nd and 3rd round pick this year. Odds are JJ will not pick up where Darnold left off... so you'd expect regression there alone.

GB: Nothing to add except they are a young team and should theoretically grow.

Who the **** really knows?

I think the Vikings have a chance to be really good if McCarthy can be anything less than suck. He couldn't have much better of a situation to walk into though with that coaching staff, some improvements to an already good defense and two investments made in the interior line with Kelly and Fries on top of Jefferson/Addison/Hockenson to throw to.

I'd still consider Detroit the favorites but I think it wouldn't be hard for them to fall off, offensively at least. It's hard to see them being terrible but not quite the juggernaut they have been.

I'm thinking about what I was last year: battling Green Bay for 3rd with upside for more. It's hard to tell what we'll really look like cause you should never underestimate the Bears' ability to inexplicably suck when you think they should be pretty good.

Green Bay has the HC, a good run game, and a solid defense. If Lafleur can squeeze any more out of Jordan Love, they could win 8-10 games. It’s wonderful to know they finally in my lifetime—don’t have a franchise QB to cover their weaknesses and deficiencies.

Minnesota: Everything depends on JJ McCarthy. Their coach and DC still are crazy good. They still have a terrific OL and weapons, and are still formidable on D. I can see them winning the division and 14 games again, but if the young qb whos technically a a rookie is bad, they can be cellar dwellers. Kevin O’Connell looks like he knows how to get the most out of QB who’s been around. Can he do it with a kid who’s never taken an NFL snap yet?

Detroit: they’re going to take a step back, just how far we don’t know. Goff is Goff and the guy who got the most out of him is gone. Whether or not Ben’s replacement can get him to keep the INTs/turnovers down the way Ben could remains to be seen. They get hutch and Alim McNeil back so their defense should be fine. Their secondary has question marks. Replacing Carlton Davis with a 5’9 DJ Reed makes me want to scheme Odunze on him intentionally.

Bears haven’t proven anything yet.

GB is probably in the best position because of their stability with their QB and HC. You'd expect DET and MIN to take a step back somewhat because of all the changes, but I don't expect either to fall off completely.

Bears have their work cut out for them. Their schedule is brutal.
