My favorite teams
k....seriously doubt that Dean gets past Detroit at 32 or 34, and may even go late 1st round

And if Fields suddenly becomes a top 10 QB in 2022 or 2023 and becomes the newest face of the franchise, he needs to be jettisoned asap. This will bring in a lot of draft capital to draft the next Bears QB.
Build through the draft, don't you know?
It’s literally the preferred strategy for about 90% of the roster. It’s how you build and keep a contending team…
Exactly. The next thing you know Fields' rookie contract ends and he wants $40 million. He needs to go now.
Draft a bunch of players just to draft their replacements 5 years later.
A smart strategy....never.
It could happen like that, but, to me, it would be a red flag on Poles because it would show that he was more interested in bringing in his own people instead of looking at the team and seeing what pieces could be the first steps of building through the draft (star players like Smith who was a Bears draft pick).Cool, I agree. That doesn't mean that's what's going to happen. I hope it does.
I'm just saying, don't be surprised if Poles doesn't want to devote big money toward current players.
What is worse is to draft a bunch of players to "build through the draft" and when a player becomes a success, decide to trade him to draft a bunch of players all over again... and then cry because there are holes all over the place because there is no talent on the team.Draft a bunch of players just to draft their replacements 5 years later.

You are SO wrong. They should and will retain roquan. He plays the most prolific position in this franchises history, is not a distraction, and works hard and improves yearly.
That also said, you give him a 5-6 year deal around 17.5m a year. By the time he's reached the end of that deal(And the bears are hopefully competing) his salary won't seem crazy anymore since the cap should go up 25-30% in that time period.
Smith is pretty much the only guy on the entire team right now that you can claim as a success story from draft to star. If you're not willing to extend him, who in the hell would you be willing to extend? What is worse is to draft a bunch of players to "build through the draft" and when a player becomes a success, decide to trade him to draft a bunch of players all over again... and then cry because there are holes all over the place because there is no talent on the team.
Where is that eye doctor fellow?Yea, no its not.
You need to fix your vision, man. You don't draft players with top 10 picks just to let them walk a few years later.
Thank you!Smith is pretty much the only guy on the entire team right now that you can claim as a success story from draft to star. If you're not willing to extend him, who in the hell would you be willing to extend?
Yeah. Even if you thought it was a good idea to replace Smith, there are WAY too many holes right now to spend high draft picks where there isn't a hole. We're replacing linebackers before we need them while ignoring the positions we don't have???
I did a mock with all linebackers so we could be like the Lovie days.
All depends on how good they turn out to be. Dumb teams keep players just because they were drafted high. And dumb fans prefer them to.Yea, no its not.

Way to take things completely out of context. But it only shows how clueless you are.Yea, lets trade away one of the best players at his position in the league so we can possibly, maybe, have a chance to draft a player half as good as him.
Sounds like what smart teams do.
How about Jaylon Johnson? Should trade him too, then with the 2nd rounder you get you can draft a guy half as good as him.
Not underrated…just not truly elite like homer Bear fans think. And he’s certainly not at present a player we need to re-sign at all costs…
So, let me get this straight.
In your world, an aging Robert Quinn who had a career year after an awful one and is taking up a ton of cap space should absolutely NOT be shipped out for a late 3rd round pick in a draft that has a ton of talent in the middle rounds ....
But a young LB who has flashed all pro talent and is finally going to be in a system that caters to his strengths, and you're like "nah, fuck that guy"?
Oh, you're a 'special' one all right... ???
The only thing dumb fans prefer is to devalue then not pay/get rid of a sideline to sideline tackling machine who’s had 100+ Combined tackles every year (even a couple seasons ago when he missed 4-5 games with his hush hush reasons) and is consistently top 5 or just outside in stats and other metrics at the ILB position because he’s not Fred Warner, Darius Leonard, or Bobby Wagner from the ‘legion of boom’ Seattle days.Dumb teams keep players just because they were drafted high. And dumb fans prefer them to.
