Stop ok.. constant thought process of Theo team???? ???????
your basing it off of 1 deadline a year after he traded for a rental..
1 time doesnt make a pattern..

If there a guy available that an upgrade and could help the team win this year and he happens to be a rental, i doubt Epstein and Hoyer are going to shrug their shoulders and pass on it without making an offer just because they may not be able to resign him.

As far as the pitching goes, he had said from day 1 that the starting pitching would most likely come from FA signings..

Outside of Archer, there wasnt really any solid pitching available via trade in offseason and Archer still hasnt been traded.

Of course i want Machado and it is a fact that i want him, im not denying that..lol

As far as cubs wanting him, i said IF their interested and gave MY opinion as to why they MIGHT do it in response to TC saying why they and Orioles wouldnt..

And again, i posted that article a couple days ago for all to see and gave no thoughts on it myself..
So i didnt interject my thoughts there ..

I didnt mention it til after Beck post about adding a bat and then gave my opinion there on who i think they COULD add..

And finally , my other thoughts on that subject came in responses to those who responded to me on that subject..

So again im not interjecting my wants and selling it as facts..
Thank you Go Cubs

Based off of need it is not justified to lose a GG caliber SS for a 3 month rent.

But let’s say that buzz put Bryant out for the year then the script changes where a trade of that nature can salvage a season.

Let the season play out. Deals like this are based off of needs vs wants.

Id trade a potential GG caliber player that not hitting for a GG best defensive player at that position who is also a great hitter anytime, even if he does end up just being a rental ..
Plus ot would be that last month of Machado if he just a rental that would be the most important as he would/could be a major factor in a playoff run with his bat and glove.

He would be a major upgrade to the defense and lineup that could help win a WS this year

Again, it not like they dont have a backup plan of they end up without bpth next year..
Baez can play potential GG SS too

Russell not irreplaceable

Theo already talked about this type of transaction in retrospect to Glebyer’s promote. He said the pen would have been exposed and he had to address it.

That is a need vs a want.

Again you are posting wants vs needs.

Upgrading SS is a want. They have no need going on.

Add to it Russell may just shut this issue with production. As I did allude towards with Almora. He is pretty much running with CF and that is what you want to see.

Now my personal interjection:

Happ basically has no spot right now. It makes sense to keep him in a versatile role and to put 2B back into his rotation.

Zo is productive for the most part so you really don’t want to kill his presence

Heyward is actually not a wall flower.

Schwarber his hitting .300

Baez has to play every day. You can’t take his bat out right now.

This line up does not need a boost. They can afford to have Russell being a D first SS.

Add to it. Hitters need to make outs so umpires can get to sleep that night....

Yeah, yeah...let's trade Russell. Pre Season it was trade Baez. Currently, Russell is the flavor of the week because he's not hitting. If he was hitting about .290, it would be Happ or somebody else. We were also told the team couldn't exist without a closer...how's that working out so far? Jesus, 23 games in with most of them played in horrid weather conditions and they need to make trades?

What a waste of time.

I still remember when peeps on the old site used to say D. Lee sucked because he only hit 25 HR’s. Didn’t say anything about his constant over .350 OBA.

There was a reason why they gave up a top 10 prospect with a top 75. Q is a TOR. with control...

Theo knows what he is doing.

His power numbers dropped to low 20s for 2 years after he broke his wrist, he hit 35 his last full year with cubs before he got traded..
Lee Ramirez and Soriano carried that cubs offense late 2000s

They showed that in his last three starts against milwaukee, Q has allowed 0 ER in 22 innings (and has 24 scoreless IP overall against them).
