I hope that the start of Cog hitting again.. need him to protect Bryant and Castro

Until LF is no longer in a platoon it will need help. My opinion is they are looking at Almora there. Already he has played LF and his last game was in RF. D wise he is the best in the system. Them extending Fowler would be a smart move and Almora I could see in Iowa soon. Last year he put in 141 AB's at Tenn. At Daytona he had 367. Right now he is at 55. So I could see him getting 300-350 AB's (total) at AA then promoted up. So 100 more AB's. He is pretty much set up to hit Chicago in Sept when the rosters expand.

Over all it would be a smart move as it puts 3 contact hitters together in Almora, Castro and Russell. Then a good OBA guy in Fowler in CF with Soler, Rizzo and Bryant in the middle. This also keeps Schwarber behind the dish.

You wouldn't play Almora in LF. You'd play Fowler there in that situation.

I'd like to see another HR here. I'm getting sleepy and about to pass out.

.125/.125/.188 on the season with a 0.0%/56.3% bb/k rate. Small sample size and all. I'm not sure calling him up this soon was the right play. Perhaps Alcantara turns it around in AAA and they can swap back again.

So Lester bats in the 7th but doesn't pitch. ...

Is our bench really that bad?

Corners tend to be trickier with the ball hooking or slicing. CF plays pretty strait. Even Bryant said he found it easier. CF you need to have good angles and speed. Fowler IMO has been better than advertised coming in. Regardless having 2 plus D at the corners would be refreshing.

Probably right... read baez finished extended ST and returned to Iowa.. be nice if he can figure it out...

I think Russell needs to maybe lay a few bunts down and just relax and start putting ball in play. . Looks like he trying to hard up there

He's better than advertised but he's still fairly limited. I'm guessing if you were to project his metrics over the full season he'd probably be around average. Almora from scouts talk could be a gold glover in CF. Moving Fowler to LF makes him better and Almora arguably is the better defender in CF anyways. Not to mention Fowler has had some leg injuries in the past which may cut down his range some. Just feel like you're talking about him being plus defender in LF vs average in CF.

Nice play by bryant to save double and run.. tough throw

Why isnt Strop or Motte in this game in 8th inning?
Germen looks to me to be no more then a 1 inning pitcher at most
