I hear ya but look at the bullpens across the league. Hitters have gotten used to velocity so now pitchers don’t challenge. They nibble. It’s weird. It’s almost rare for me to see a fastball in a hitters count. They rather walk them then allow a homer which leads to bigger innings. Even the top teams have had major issues with bullpen this year. Maybe it will adjust itself but it’s oretty wild.

Did you hear what Maddon was saying how balls are flying out of Wrigley now that before were always knocked down by the wind. He didn't come right out and say it but he's alluding to juiced baseballs. Shit like that changes a lot of things....like preferring walks to gopher balls which leads to big innings with lots of runs.

Balls are def juiced. I see pop flys just traveling for no reason.

I understand preferring a walk to a HR. But, then again, I prefer a solo HR by an opponent to a two-run HR.

Oh, it's Schwarber. So if the catcher can reach it with his glove, it is called a fucking strike!!!!!!!!!!!

It is simply "swing for a HR" or nothing.

You don't need to hit the ball 700 feet. A ball off that ridiculous wall would have tied it.

Nice start to the 9th. Too many swings and misses.

Almora, BTW, is looking better and better. More power than in the past.

I'm sure most don't care given the back to back losses but I always like to look at positives when I can. Russell is hitting .289/.333/.511(122 wRC+) after today. His walk rate's also about 2% lower than his career walk rate so there's potentially some improvement to be had there. His ISO is .171 which is more akin to 2016/17.

Also almora now has 7 hrs. He had 5 all of last year. Those to breaking through with the bat could be pretty huge going forward with some of the other resurgent players.

I agree. The lineup will be really tough if/when those two are hitting.

I was going to say that anyone that feels that Russell is piss poor can f-themselves right about now.

Descalso has no business starting over him anymore.

As far as the game goes. I didn't get to see it. What was off with Hamels? No SO really feels very off with him.

As far as the line up. Too many strike outs to Cole. Baez 5 and Descalso Adduci at 3 made of the bulk.

Baez well that has happened.

Adduci is not MLB talent.

Deccalso is a bench player. He should not be treated with the same respect Zobrist is given.

When Bryant returns I'm fine with him being the DH and Bote at 3B this series. I really don't want to see Descalso with more than a AB or 2 at most late inning. He brings nothing and is barely better than a pitcher hitting.

on a good note, Maples should stay after Strop returns. I get they needed a bat with KB on the shelf. But Adduci should be the first axed. Maples IMO really should be pushed more and more vs MLB talent. Iowa offers him nothing.

I think they told Adduci not to pack too big a suitcase.

You would think a great manager would realize after the third K that, maybe he should get our best defensive player out on the field somewhere since he wants to get his head in the game. Most think these guys have no gut feeling, no looking over their shoulder, dont worry about a damned thing. But it was pretty clear the only way to keep Javy's head in the game is to let him do what he does best and play the field.

Its pretty clear the two monstrosities in the outfield is changing the effects of the wind.

Adduci hitting 5th was a damn shame.

It was most likely a semi off day for him. They are on a 26 games out of 27 days run. Most off the issues IMO are fatigue right now.

Lol very true. I guess I didn't have a big problem with him in the lineup with the injuries. But woof...
