Holy shit, that's huge.

Holy cow.

Can we just talk about the job Wade Davis has done??

What a stud. Doesn't look intimidating, but what a stud.

To quote Rizzo from Game 7 of the WS last year..."I am (was) a glass case of emotions" watching that game tonight! Great W tonight! Hoping we see the 2nd half Lackey (my bad...it was late!) tomorrow and hot bats.

You simply can not fuck that play up more if you try.

Love Rizzo, but can someone have a heart to heart with him about his foot speed?

Had Martin simply stopped, or Rizzo not raise his leg, we score.

Still think Rizzo had HR.
Can someone have a heart to heart with you about going automatically on a groundball hit to the 2B?

some game. Javy should not have to wake up the bench though, sometimes I think this team is too easy rider.

More questionable moves by joe that worked. You think if Haywood was still in RF they might have thrown out the runner at the plate. Not saying anything about Happs arm, just the position of that ball a left handed fielder would have gotten rid of the ball quicker.

Great win though, showed they can turn it on, too bad they blew Davis for the next game or two, with Saturday being an early start.

Rizzo on 3rd + groundball = out.

Often.
Rizzo on 3rd + GB past the pitcher is a go. Rizzo needed to slide better and he would have been safe. You're challebging the IF to make a good throw. The screw up was Martin. Stop and make Sogard tag.

Was great to see a comeback win, late. This hasn't happened very often for the Cubs this year. I will admit with 2 strikes on Javy and him swinging at pitches just above the dirt, I was not expecting a base hit. Was a pleasant surprise and a great overall win. I am getting more and more concerned about our middle relief. Who is Joe going to go to when he takes out Hendriks in the 5th inning in the playoffs? I don't think he has a better option this year, maybe he lets him go 6 or 7 this year.

Looking back after a season, what do you think of the Sale trade?

I am putting this in spoiler to not hijack the thread.
I love Chris Sale. That has not changed even though he acted like a child a couple of times last year. Sorry, twenty somethings are still prone to stupidity. That said, I knew what they had to do and while I wasn't in love with the trade initially as I felt the team should have gotten more, I was on board for a full rebuild. The White Sox do not have support to keep a good team on the field and re-work the minors like some other teams do.

Now a year later, I predicted Sale as Cy Young and he just might still. Yoan looks pretty decent at such a young age. I am hoping he cuts 10% off his whiff rate over the next two seasons. Michael Kopech is looking so good. I have to try really hard to contain my excitement on him. He's got Cy Young ceiling.

So a year later we have a pitcher that at the same time was better than Chris and finally a hitter that is in the class of specs of our pitchers.

I give the trade at this point a solid B

Hindsight is in play here, but with the season Sale just had do you think the Sox should've gotten a guaranteed young cornerstone, like an Addison Russell, in return? I was looking back this morning and couldn't shake the feeling that Hahn should've pushed for more than prospects.

Houston got the Dream and two championships, including the first one all by Hakeem's self.

Yeah, he should be thanking Portland for taking Sam Bowie...I mean they already had Drexler but Sam Bowie over Jordan?

The problem is who had more to give? Like in theory I get what you're saying and Sale probably is worth more but to pay what Sale is worth you have to gut your team and therefore you aren't competitive which sort of defeats the point. The sox effectively ended up with two top 15 ish prospects for him. Most teams don't have one top 15 prospect let alone two. So it's really hard to do better.

That's why I've always suggested that there's an upper limit on players even if they are worth "more." For example, I doubt Mike Trout were he to be traded gets much more than the sox got for Sale despite him easily being the most valuable baseball player. Players at that sort of value level are either never dealt because they are so valuable or are dealt for below what they are worth.
