Did you think the press in 1927 was talking about the Yankees being one of the best teams ever before they swept the World Series in 4 games? You bet they were and without a World Series. A lot of people are talking about this team being historically great. They started off 17-5 in April which was a HUGE start. The Cubs began June with the best run differential, plus 129, and a record of 35–15, also the best. Cubs starting pitchers began the month with a combined earned run average of 2.38. In June they have struggled but what do you think is the more likely scenario? The Cubs win 17-5 in July and August and September with Fowler LaStella both .300 hitters, Fowler .888 OPS. That is as important to a team as Babe Ruth was in 1927. Did Ruth even spend one day on the DL in 1927. Not on your life, the guy had 540 AB and played in 158 out of 158 games hitting 60 HR and driving in a crazy 164 RBIs. The Cubs began July with the best record in baseball, 51-27 and the best run differential at +169. The pitching staff had the lowest ERA, the fewest hits allowed, runs allowed and earned runs allowed, and the lowest batting average by opponents in major league baseball. The Cubs offense when compared to all teams was 2nd in on base percentage, 2nd in base runners who eventually score, 2nd in the number of RBI's and 1st in achieving a walk. Kris Bryant was tied with Todd Frazier of the Chicago White Sox and Mark Trumbo of the Baltimore Orioles for the Major League Home Run lead with 23 and was 4th with 61 RBI's. Anthony Rizzo had 60. The upcoming All-Star game in San Diego is scheduled to begin with the entire Cubs infield as starters. Dexter Fowler, though injured, leads all National League outfielders in the voting. Do you ever watch ESPN? Every time they mention the Cubs which is not a lot given the amount of shit that is going on in sports today. They mention the Cubs as being "historically great" in 2016.

Heyward in center. I like that. We should at least get our money back from the guy in the field. Three guys who started the season in AAA up before the roster expands. Who are they going to bring up then? Or are they going to pull the trigger and send Schwarber to New York for Miller and Chapman. Im convinced this trade is on the table and I might even do it. It almost guarantees us of 2 World Series titles having the best closer in the game (Miller). How many saves has Rondon blown in the past month, 3? Are you crazy!!!! A good closer doesn't ever blow a save. Ever
