He was at least pretty dominant for several years before he went weird. Arrieta had one crazy season a few good ones before. I think we may ave gotten spoiled from last year, but lately he hasn't really been close.

Verlander I think was just bad all season
Hammaker had an AS/cyyoung first half before falling apart in 2nd half..
Arrieta was Mr perfect cy young last year and had that streak going for what 3 mos. this year, til his last 3-4 starts

I mean...the guy is naked on front of ESPN the body. You are asking for this. He has a couple hiccups and I don't like the adjustment he made. He seems to be landing funny and jerking his body into his pitching motion late.
This too shall pass. Jake isn't quite right at the moment, and this team has been dieing to get him for 18 months. They are his biggest vicitim, so this is expected kinda.

So actual question, is Arrieta really pitching that poorly tonight(i get he's been iffy in general)? I don't have the game up and i'm just following the box score but the main reason he's been trouble this year is walks of which he has none and he's thrown ~70% strikes. 6 k's in 4 looks good. Obviously 2 HR's isn't what you wanna see but seems more like a case of him just letting 2 pitches hurt him.

Hendricks??? he's 3-0 in last 4 starts and has given up just 3 runs in his last 25 innings pitched.

Seems like Jake has been better than Liriano. 84 pitches vs 54 right now. HR's hurt but I believe he is adjusting and attacking the plate. The HR's are a result being around the plate.

Didn't look good early with 2 gopher balls but seem to settle in a bit and making good pitches to get out of trouble..
