Jay has a special knack for always knowing the worst possible thing to do, and getting it done.

This team can get the bases loaded and no outs and find a way to not score...

I'm not one to really second question Maddon but I sorta like Almora up here more than Happ.

Needing a single, Joe sends up a HR hitter, less likely to get a single than the man he is batting for.

And loses a HR bat in extra innings, unnecessarily.

Horrible decision to bunt there. And equally awful execution of the bunt.
What made it a bad choice is the guy just walked 2 in row..

Force him to throw strikes

I know the fanboys don't like to criticize maddon but he made 2 highly questionable decisions that inning.

Double whammy, because Almora was fine there, and we lose a bat. And downgrade the D.

How is it a manager decides a bunt is a bad thing, so he rarely uses it (which I am OK with). But he pulls it out with a singles hitter at the plate and a fast runner on second.

When Almora doubled in three, and was on 2nd with no outs, only to be stranded, I hoped like hell it wouldn't come back to haunt us. Let's hope it doesn't now.

I agree..
Hate the damn lefty righty thing..
Kid a major league hitter, let him hit.

But that should show you there no plan on Almora being the starter in CF next year

Well here we go..
Uehara in after not pitching for 2 weeks, he'll give up a run or two here.

Probably a homer

Joe burned all three of his remaining bats in that inning, never got a guy to third base.

I can't wait to fire Mallee because this team has some of the worst situational and executional at bats I've ever seen. I can't find the numbers but every time WGN shows a graphic of the Cubs/MLB/likelihood to score in a certain situation, Cubs lag well behind the MLB average.

I'm also going to question the decision to not send Pena down for Rivera then send Caratini down tomorrow for Pena. Just not what I call a fine piece of managing either by the FO or by the manager today. This would (and should) be an organizational loss.

Joe pretty much played to win it or lose it there, and really made some questionable decisions.

What a circus out there now. We can't advance a guy with a bunt. Then we advance theirs without forcing one.

This is the kind of "missed opportunity" game that can literally keep us home in October.

Let's get some runs!

Avila stepped forward just enough to make a tag impossible.

Wilson has gone from solid reliever to literally can't get out lefties.
