Rizzo was due!!!!!!!!! 4-3 Cubs
Always criticizing hmmmmmmmRizzo was due!!!!!!!!!
Russell-Bote-Almora - combined 1 for 9, with 7Ks and an infield hit.
But a W is a W.
I am not sure I follow. (And I am not terribly upset that he had them all in there. Just puzzled.)That's why Maddon makes a barrel of money while winning 60% of his games and we post on a sports forum. It's something he has always done....keep everyone involved where every player feels he means something. The thing is.....if those three you mentioned went 6 for 9 and the Cubs lost....would anyone care? Would anyone even notice?

They did not win because he played them. They won in spite of that. An error was the difference.
Was Joe counting on that?
At this point, Bote cannot even put the ball in play, and he is screwing up defensively. Why are we worried about "making him feel he means something"?
I mean...it's not that I don't care, or that I don't want him to rebound. But playing him is not in the team's best interests right now, even if we do want him to bounce back.
Does it make a difference? They won a game....a guy who they kind of need, got another chance to snap out of it. Sure, he didn't do it but there's never been a rhyme or reason to this game. He could bounce back tomorrow, next week or next year but he won't do it as a spectator...he has to play. It's not like he's logging Baez or Rizzo playing time....he still sits some. The only guys I really don't care to see anymore are Descalso and Brach.....it sucks that their contracts are probably the only thing between them and a DFA.
Russell was a non factor.
Almora scored a run and with the conditions you know the ball is going to carry. I can see that justifiable. The catcher choice most likely was on Joe and Jon. He has not worked with VC.

I understand getting a lot of guys playing time, and that's Joe's M.O. And he has been successful, and I am OK with him in the macro. Some days, in the micro, it seems frustrating. Our goal is not to split time evenly. Our goal is to win the division first, and then the WS.We weren't talking about Russell, it was Bote. For good reason as in lack of production, TL has been saying this for awhile. My only point is that Joe tries to keep everyone involved and Bote won't get back to being Bote riding the pines.
