Well more likely it is going to be getting a TA spot, getting tuition covered and being paid a small stipend. Grad school is weird because they will offer different packages based on how much they like you. More places will accept than offer funding. It isn't surprising to get into a place with no funding and have several offers with differing levels of stipends and teaching loads. At the end of the day being a TA isn't a bad deal really. It is really useful if you intend to continue on into academia.

Well the TA option wouldnt work for me since I dont want to teach. lol

right now, Northeastern Illinois. Smaller University in CHI.

NIU isn't a bad school, but choosing between Chicago and DeKalb isn't close. I enjoyed my time at NIU though.

yeah I know a few people that go to NIU and I've been up there to party a few times. It was pretty fun from what I can remember :beerbang:

but yeah, I didn't like DeKalb too much haha.

There is nothing in DeKalb, but it does have a weird mix of college kids and townies. I had a lot of fun when I was there, but I am not really a city person to begin with.
