I really can't believe how many times and places that I have read about how the media says that Sanborn still has to prove himself as a starter. If he was drafted there wouldn't be any of this talk. All the guy does is continue to make plays. We saw this in the pre-season as well. The good news is maybe Poles has learned his lesson that you need to look at football players not just their RAS scores. Every game the guy is all over the field making plays which is something that I can't say about Morrow who never seems to be around the ball.

The guy is a starter on a horrible defense surrounded by players who won't be here or starters in the near future. It's nice that he's able to fill a hole, but we won't know what he is until there's some semblance of talent around him. My expectation is that he will continue to look slower and slower as the pieces are replaced.

I think he’ll look better with more talent playing in front of him and next to him.

Looking slower with more talent? How can I understand it?

That might be the single most idiotic stance ever on this forum. And that's saying a lot.

Not sure what the person who posted meant, but it happens a lot. When the defense is bad in multiple areas teams can attack a lot of places. When only one or two guys are liabilities offenses tend to attack those weak areas of the field over and over; thus making a player appear slower as they are exposed more frequently.

Not sure that will happen in this case. It is very common to see, especially with slow mlbs.

There’s another UDFA Wisconsin LB coming to town this week. He was a great Badger but lacked the measurables the NFL covets.

He’s thriving on a great defense and team.

Sanborn plays at football speed because he can read and dissect what he sees. Judge how he’s diagnosing plays and where he’s making those plays. Is he getting beat in coverage? Is he making tackles from behind because he was beaten or is he reading, filling and finishing?

My guess is the Bear brain trust is smiling after reviewing film each week.

He supposedly isn't fast so should be easy to avoid yet he still makes plays. Who are they avoiding instead to allow him to make those plays. Is he not getting to the edges? Will he make fewer plays with better players around him? Perhaps, if someone else gets there 1st but that should currently see him missing plays and he's been as reliable as he could possibly be.

I don't ever buy Jersey's but I've won a couple here. 1st one was Mooney and I'm waiting on my Sanborn. Thanks, Zack!

Totally agree. I mean you can overcome undrafted if you are from Clemson, UGA, or Alabama, but undrafted and WISC...give me a break? Plus what do all the best undrafted NFL linebackers have in common, James Harrison, Sam Mills,London Fletcher? Not being white!!

It's also so transparent how they are setting him up to look better than that former 1st round black LB from UGA just to make Polls and Sandburn look good. White privilege at its worst!!!!

Got it. But however it looks like more to me, that he's helping other guys. Just the Aaron Jones play vs GB. How often was Smith as an elite runner there to make the play and didn't finish?

Instincts doesn't age as physically. And from what I saw so far, I would be very happy if Sanborn would the defense weakness ?

TFLs are low. He makes a lot of tackles 5 yards down field. Let’s see what he brings next training camp.

Exactly. He's playing well but a lot of his tackle numbers are also due to the rest of the front 7 sucking and rb's going untouched into the 2nd level. Not hard to rack up tackle numbers then

Its racism. If he was black nobody would be questioning his ability with the way he has played.

If the Bears had drafted him in the 4th or 5th round where he was projected, guys would be saying look at the hidden gem that Poles found.

Sanborn ran a 4.73 40 yard dash at the combine. That's not concerningly slow for a guy his size. Linebackers with worse 40 times than that get drafted literally every year.

And he doesn't look slow on the field, either, so I don't know where you're even getting this crap.
