Mike Tice was no GURU he was a BUM!

In 2012 the Bears kept 8 Olinemen on the final 53 man roster:
J'Marcus Webb, Chris Spencer, Roberto Garza, Lance Louis, Gabe Carimi, Chilo Rachal, Chris Williams, and Edwin Williams... This year everyone but Garza had to replaced...
This tells me that the guy knew more about horses than lineman. From 2010-2012 he had two 1st rounders to work with: Chris Williams and Gabe Carimi whom he personally vouched for coming out of college. His only "successes" are J'Marcus Webb and Lance Louis, who most would consider average at best.

During the entire time Tice was the O-Line "specialist" the Bears failed miserably to develop high draft picks or stack any depth, meanwhile the team and media kept telling us how he was the best o-line coach in the nfl... Bears fans should feel insulted that we were lied to and deceived by that meatball and the media that played up his lovable tough guy act. Never has a bigger failure been more beloved in this city.

What does it say for Jay Cutler that he survived and had any success at all behind the offensive lines this guy cobbled together over the last 3 seasons. No wonder he didn't respect Tice or communicate well with him, its amazing that he didn't ask to be traded from the Bears after 3 years of being beaten to a pulp behind Tice's crappy O-Lines. Meanwhile Cutler is the one hated by the media and fans, meanwhile Tice is the great guy everyone wants to have a beer with...
:obama:

Thank goodness the Bears have closed the door on the Lovie Smith/Jerry Angelo/Mike Tice era.

There is no new information in this post. Everything said here has been said thousands of time on here. Also, don't forget we had no first round draft picks for two years to draft an offensive lineman. I do believe that the offensive line will be better. I am sure Aaron Rodgers hasn't been too pleased with his either, as well as some other QBs around the league.

Can we at least play one real game first? I don't know why we need endless posts trashing our prior coaches until we at least see an improvement from last years 10-6 team.

I think it's pretty telling that not only are all but one of our Olinemen from last year off the team, but I can only think of 1 that is still in the NFL. And Carimi looks to be on the fast track out himself.

Not that I am backing Tice, but the point that you would be making is don't blame the coach, blame the guys doing the drafting and picking up free agents, and contrary to the nonsense you read on hear, that is not Tice.

First of all sorry that there is no breaking news in this thread for you, considering its a saturday night and not much to discuss other than the 53 man roster, Im sure you will get over it.

Secondly, Tice was the OL coach and he would have input on every OL player kept on this team and I doubt that any GM would not discuss potential players with the coaches on the team. Just because the GM finds the talent and makes the final decision doesn't mean that the HC and assistant coaches have no input, especially when the assisant is considered a "guru". Its true we already know that Oline sucked for the last few years, but now we have a new group of coaches and they have wiped out everything he touched. I call that proof that he was a major bum, not the "guru" people claimed he was.

Is there any doubt that J'Marcus Webb and Gabe Carimi would still be on the Bears roster this year if Tice was the O-Line coach?

I have no idea. Sometimes it is clear who is making the decisions, at times I have had knowledge of these types of things. In this case I do not, and I do not just make things up if I don't know.

This is a hindsight argument. At the time we hired him he was a well respected OL coach based on his successes in Minny and Jacksonville and no one had a crystal ball that could tell them he would fail so miserably in Chicago. Shit happens. Just because someone is allegedly good at something doesn't mean they will always be good at it or that they will never fail.

What the **** is the matter with you people? Mike Tice was a professional football player, intern and coach. He's literally twice the man most of you are. He was and still is 100% committed to the long term success of the Vikings. He's been through more battles than you have pubes. Not to mention he's an American.

Shame on you for yet again ripping a tax paying, love boating, blue collared American badass.

Hindsight indeed, I didn't know anything about him prior to coming to Chicago other than being the Vikings loveboat coach but no way do you go from being a great coach and talent evaluator to being the load of crap he was here in Chicago.

Rod Marinelli on the other hand actually developed young guys like Henry Melton and got the most out his defensive players, even if he didn't get elite production he still got something out of his players. Tice on the other hand....:puke:

I always wondered how Tice got recognition for being great while consistently producing sub par OL groups.

It is impossible to give Tice credit for being good or a failure. To be honest, if Webb and Louis get a chance on other teams to start that will be the only way to really know if Tice did a solid job. Webb's best season was the last and Louis was the best linemen for the last two seasons. Was it because of Tice or did the bad and average just have a slightly better season? I doubt we will ever know unless Webb takes being in the NFL more seriously.
