Once Burrowes, Lapierre and the Sedin Twins started diving, and taking embellishment penalties (4 of ‘em in the Cup Finals – must be a record, doubt if another team has ever had 3, much less 2 in a series), Burrowe’s bites Bergeron, Lapierre taunts Bergeron next game, Rome coldcocks Horton in game 3, Hockey fans outside of Vancouver had seen enough of this assortment of divers, whiners (from Gillis on down), cowards (think Burrowes pulling hair, biting, diving) and headhunters. But, more importantly, the refs had, too. When, early in the series, the Canucks began dropping like flies at the slightest touch, and tried and make the refs look silly, they lost all credibility. Heck, even Don Cherry mentioned how embarrassing, pathetic, Hank Sedin’s antics, better yet, shennanigans, were. Claud Julien’s remarks about Lapierre being traded 3 times because of his unlikeable persnality – I believe Julien pulled the switch the first time with the Habs – were also telling.
So, does anyone not think that having to play all those extra games, the Canucks only won 3 of 9 games in which they could have closed out a series – FYI, Vancouver, you need to close out 4 to win the Cup, something the Canucks still haven’t done, LOL - didn't do 'em in? The travel, the injuries, the emotional toil, the fatigue, etc.
