Everyone wants to work with the Dream. Kobe post dream footwork was so much better. I believe LBJ worked with the Dream this offseason if he can get better footwork he may be unstoppable if LBJ had Kobes footwork it would be over. A lot of good big men have been working with Tim Duncan this offseason George Hill got him to let Roy Hibbert work with him. I think either one would be game changers Timmy and Dream are equally good in the post and with footwork. I love guys like Noah and Hibbert who want to get better not every player is like that.

I remember getting into an argument with someone on these forums a couple of years ago because I stated that Howard needed a post game and Ewing wasn't exactly the person to teach him. Ewing was a great face up jumpshooter, maybe the best shooting big man I have ever seen facing up. But his back to the basket game wasn't on level with Hakeem, Duncan, McHale, Robinson (who mastered "reposting") or even Mourning. A post game is optimal right now.

Won't help Noah a ton. IMO Noah is too "hyper" of a player to really establish much in the way of post moves. The way he plays the game doesn't really translate to all of a sudden being a back to the basket player.

Howard always wanted to be a back to the basket guy but never knew how. Noah is more of a slashing/driving big. Maybe Hakeem can teach him stuff there but until Noah refines his jump shot post moves aren't going to do anything for him.

This exactly. I just don't see noahs post game evolving into anything useful. That's just not his game. Its like teaching shaq a jumpshot. Well..... maybe not that bad, but you get the picture.

No one is going to claim Noah is going to become as coordinated and good as Olajuwon but he can definitely improve.

.
Lulz. Coming from the same guy that thinks without a doubt Noah can develop a dominant post game.

D. Howard was basically a similar player that Noah is untill he worked with Patrick Ewing.
Howard and Noah were/are not similar players in the post on offense.

This regardless would be welcoming training for Noah. It never hurts to fine tune his game plus learn a lot more in general & improve everything else from working with Hakeem.

Smart comment Noah, now just follow through with it.

I know you guys are gonna disagree with this, but that's not noahs game. I don't know if it would be benificial for the bulls to try and transform noah into a scoring post player. Id much rather he work on his jumpshot and ft sshooting. In an effort to make that pick and roll/pop with rose more viable.

noah needs improve his shooting regardless..his form sucks

you dont think hakeem could help in that regard either?

and i'm sure he could help noah atleast learn a few things in the post

it shouldnt be just pick and roll with rose either he should be able to post up once in a while..gives him another dimension to his game

Because it takes away from his strength, the bulls strength, which is rebounding. Especially offensive and weakside. But his footwork is too bad. Not too mention the mechanics on his jumpshot. Which he's had obviously since he's been playing. He's obviously never really worked in the post. I just don't see olajuwan being able to turn that around. Howard was raw, but you can tell he's played with his back to the basket. Not so much the case with noah

i dont think noah needs to completely convert to being a back to the basket...no one is suggesting that here

but it would help if he has another dimension to his game....something he can use periodically besides creating from garbage misses

i think hakeem could help with his mid range and shooting game as well..i think thats a bit separate from learning post game though

using back to the basket in some small doses wont kill his rebounding

I'm not saying a post game wouldn't benifit him. Hell I'm hoping rose developes a post game. But noah? If olajuwan is to teach him anything, id rather it be how to be a dominant defender. I don't want him to lose sight of what got him here.
you act like hakeem is only set to help noah with one facet of his game...thats not the case at all

Look at what happened to vince carter when he deveoped that 3. He all but scrapped his ability to attack the basket. And it hurt his overall game.

A. thats a wing player....completely different than a post player
B. when specifically was this? NJ? he partly needed to develop an outside game because his ability to attack the basket was going to decline regardless because he was aging
C.joakim learning a few back to the basket moves wont hinder the rest of his game

I dont think the idea is to make Noah a better shooter. I think the idea is to get Noah more easy baskets. For this reason, I think this was a good idea. It's hard to know if it will work. Olajuwon often used a series of moves to get easy shots and this was predicated on defenders respecting the initial shot.

Way to completely take what I said out-of-context, FirstTroller.

Here's my actual thoughts, that aren't snipped Foxnews-style:

Joakim Noah has plenty of raw offensive talent that is highly chaotic/non-disciplined. It would take a lot of dedication but Noah could develop a low-post offensive game. He has all of the length and athleticism of a dominant scoring big man.

He is one of the most overrated players in the game today but being overrated in itself doesn't mean you aren't very good. The Bulls defense relies a lot on Noah being on the team. There is a reason the Bulls were a better defensive and rebounding team than Miami last year.

Hakeem can teach him better form on his jump shot and how to get a fade off at will. He can teach Noah how to use his feet better instead of being completely out of control. Noah is a very raw offensive talent. But he DOES have talent. It's time to develop him the way he should be.

No one is going to claim Noah is going to become as coordinated and good as Olajuwon but he can definitely improve.

Why not develop Noah's post-up game? It makes Boozer that much more expendable.

Nowhere did I say Noah could become a dominant low-post scorer; I said that he has some features that all dominant low-post players possess. I merely stated the obvious - that he could develop a low-post game and have that apart of his arsenal.

For people who are fair, like me, being apart of a group run by trolls (FirstTroller, Rory, etc.) with low-esteem and take what people say out-of-context is a waste of time.

Perhaps. I think the easier fix is things involving footwork though. Noah has really good footwork. If he can get Noah more easy baskets, that alone would be worth it. Improved shooting would be a bonus.

You also claimed he can develop a great low post game... "no doubt". Lulz.

What a maroon.

Care to look up any centers at 27 who had a limited post game then by 30 had a "great" or "dominant" or very good post game at their "peak" of 30?

Come on Rami.

Go for it

ya, thats part of the reason i think hakeem could help noah...i think he has atleast a base to learn a few moves

and at some point noah's physical tools and hyper play is going to decline with age...you need something you can atleast periodically rely on for besides getting garbage energy baskets...i think this is where working on shooting helps a little bit too
