Back on topic, there is no way in hell Girardi would leave a job in New York with the defending world champs for the classic underachievers. He wanted the job back before they hired Pinella. Then the Yankee job came along. That ship has sailed.

And, if it is 40 or 60% Lou's fault like waldo claims, then we'd be good with Girardi. :)

I'm not saying it all Lou's fault but he makes decisions that I would be like why and would never get it. The biggest 2, I hate are: After a win, he changes the lineup, I don't get that. #2: Plays Kosuke over Colvin. Let the kid play god dammit.

K.F. .252 BA 8 HR 26 RBI .347 OBP .414 SLG .762 OPS on 222 ABs and 79 games

Colvin .263 BA 12 HR 32 RBI .313 OBP .531 SLG .844 OPS on 179 and 80 games

Colvin is coming more down to earth hitting now because he chases a lot of pitches outside the zone

Found this from an article, somewhat proves my point

"These numbers show us that Colvin has been pretty lucky, though. Colvin also leads the team in BABIP at .385, but using the quick xBABIP tool, we find that Colvin’s BABIP should be .336, around 50 points lower. Part of this has come from the fact that he’s hitting .333 on ground balls. The MLB average this year has been .230. Between now and September, Colvin’s grounders will start to find gloves rather than holes, which will bring his performance back down to earth.

While the good luck may continue throughout 2010, Cubs management needs to know what they really have in Colvin. Colvin’s plate discipline is not strong, as he’s swung at 38.1% of pitches out of the zone. He hasn’t shown a great eye in the minors, either. He ranks in the top 20 of O-Swing (Min. 100 PA), and that would be tolerable if his name was Pablo Sandoval or Vladimir Guerrero, but he’s not either. Of the top 20 in O-Swing, he has the second worst O-Contact % at 50%. Yikes. Interestingly enough, the player that is second in O-Swing is Jake Fox

While I don’t predict the same kind of drop off from Colvin as we’ve seen from Fox and Hoffpauir, there’s great evidence to suggest that his true talent level is somewhere around .270/.320/.480"

.263 BA,.313 OBP,.531 SLG

relatively spot on

the slugging is a little higher

but then again its only mid July

i think his numbers will continue to go down a bit depending on how many ABs per game Lou gives him

Im thinking Lou knows how much he swings outside the zone and doesnt want to give him too many ABs esp. as he's still learning how to play in the majors

I don't think Colvin is on the level of Castro but he will be solid outfielder for years to come IMO...hopefully if he stays with the cubs

Fukudome is arguably the better guy at defense and also has the edge experience wise

Colvin has been exposed as the player he really is; a 4th outfielder. Hitting .183/.216/.366 the past few weeks. He also can't hit lefties. Hitting .255 with a .286 OBP against them in his career, although a small sample 50 plate appearances.

^i do think he'll be a solid OF when he works on being more consistent and disciplined hitting wise

he's still a young prospect

That's why I think he needs to play everyday, to get use to that and adjust.

The thing is, he hit lefties well in the minors but Lou oddly hasn't start him against a lot of lefties

How old is this article? Because right now Colvins BABIP is .318 according to fangraphs.
