They dont seem to care that they gave up Soler and his 30 bombs for a rental, I cant see why they would care they gave up Russell for a flyer.

Teams trade from positions of surplus for positions of need.
The Cubs, fresh off a WS win, acquired a top notch closer for an OF they could afford to hive up.
He spent two subsequent seasons in milb while Davis was near perfect in dave situations.
But two seasons later, someone frames it ridiculously as “they dont seem to care they gave up Soler”.....
This is Exhibit A in the “I don’t get it, and I will criticize a GM in Hindsight” Hall of Fame.

Well, I wish your posts were on paper so I could wipe my ass with them too.
You might want to check my stance on this since it happened, the writing on the wall for Soler was as soon as they needed to pay for Heyward. Especially after Soler was the only guy that actually produced offensively in the 2015 playoffs.
It was ok to give up Gleybor for a rental because that rental did his best to cost us game 7 of the world series.
No hindsight here, just you feeling the need to be above everyone here on your high horse.

That is about dumb. Soler was a constant injury case. When he was healthy he produced. That is a when.
The DH helped him out because of his constant injuries. With the Cubs he would have played 80-100 games tops every year because he would be out with injury. Be was out with injury with the DH.
So if you want to complain about Theo not extending Wade and instead chosing to go cheap with another often injured Morrow.
See the correlation here? Being good doesn't mean shit if you are out of the line up and weighing down payroll with your uselessness.
You want to cherry pick 1 year of Soler? Might as well cherry pick LaStella this year and ***** about why they let a in-house lead off go and plugged in a .220 hitter with no speed into it.
That is a far better arguement. Soler was not. Wade did his job. As far as value goes Soler has not matched his paycheck and never will.

Of course you are missing the point.
The whole point is, if Addison Russell turns into an MVP player after he is traded, EVERYONE will look back and say we should have kept him.
If Addison Russell ends up suspended again, a locker room cancer if the new organization wants to make their full team of God fearing players sit thru wife beater classes, while Russell keeps his empty between the ears mentality, does not give a ****, hits .240, then it would be a good trade, NO MATTER WHO WE GET BACK FOR HIM.
Your Soler argument has nothing to do with Russell does it? Isn't this thread about RUSSELL? Theo could have dealt him, but is asking for too much.
You are either the brown nose fan that swallows everything Theo does and asks for more, or you actually think about the players side.
Soler produced in the 2015 playoffs, he was about the only one. His reward was Theo signing a 182 million dollar man to take his job. Everything that happened here in 2016 was after a swift kick in the dick. Absolutely NOBODY complained about Soler being a butcher in right field here. NOBODY, not until Heyward got here, proved he could not play center and we signed back Fowler another year.
Russell beat his second baby mama, weaseled out on payments to his first baby mama, lied to Theo's face about it, and still gets away with every benefit of the doubt. Now he admits to not paying attention about signs for a baseball game and its still not enough proof that the guy is a waste.

All that he has going for himself is range factor. Which is eliete.
Could he turn it around? Sure why not. But the Cubs have far better production at SS and 2B today.
Your arguement is better supported on a team like the White Sox who have the luxury of time. The Cubs do not and need their resources devoted towards players that are helping the team win ball games.
That really has little to do with the base running gifs or the missed balls. It is about the body of work. It is sub par.
That is why his trade value is basically nothing right now. The domestic violence would have been forgiven with outstanding play. It right now is a convenient excuse to dislike him.

If it does not matter what Soler is doing, why will it matter what Russell might do? Whatever Russell does is going to get credited for a change of scenery anyway.
How do we compare this to real life? A guy at work gets accused of domestic violence, the whole 49 person staff has to sit thru three days of classes showing why domestic violence is bad and gives you exercises to do when you feel you are about to lose it. Do you really think that guy has many friends at work anymore and the rest of the staff are counting the days until they are gone.

Buyer vs seller. Buyer you are taking care of right now. Seller you are bulking up the system.
Teams go in phases. In a failed year they will sell off short term contract.
The problem is the Cubs have failed to suck sense Joe came in. So blame Joe for the system deplete. Dude should have tanked a year to make you happy.
