My favorite teams
Since being acquired by the Yankees on July 26 2013, Alfonso Soriano leads the MLB with 21 HRs.
The Cubs placed right-handed reliever Jose Veras on the 15-day disabled list with a left oblique strain before Saturday's game in Milwaukee.
Righty Brian Schlitter was recalled from Triple-A Iowa to take Veras' roster spot.
Veras last pitched Thursday against the D-backs, giving up two runs in one inning. Manager Rick Renteria told reporters Friday the right-hander was dealing with left oblique soreness, but at that time he was hopeful the injury wouldn't land Veras on the DL.
Veras, who lost the closer job earlier this month, has a 15.88 ERA in six relief appearances this season, allowing 10 runs and issuing 10 walks in 5 2/3 innings.

Meh, its one statistic, and I'd be willing to argue that good players generally hit a lot of homeruns.
The Cubs highest paid player is Soriano. Why couldn't he be doing these things for the northsiders, instead of Corey Black toiling in the minors?
This alleged "albatross" is leading the majors in HRs. The Cubs had no room for that on their roster or payroll?
Would have had 2 for the Cubs

I was under the impression that the Cubs traded Sori so he could have one more run w/ a contender. What a dipshit thing to do!
Even if that is the case......
Why should the Cubs be picking up the tab on that?
Probably cause that was the only option they had to deal him and get back a decent player in return. .

Soriano wasnt bad with his no trade clause. He just didnt want to go a cold climate which is why he turned down San Fran. Soriano no trade had nothing to do with his contract. He was a 10 5 guy. 10 years in the league and 5 years with the Cubs. He earned the right to Veto. I dont blame him for anything.
