Congrats bioch.
Also, good on you for guiding your kid to opportunities that actually take advantage of his skills. I work with high school kids and college freshman a lot. And honestly, highly capable kids that know how to work aren't all that rare. But what IS rare, are adults that know how to guide those kids towards opportunities to excel.
Dual enrollment at a local community college or even flat out taking junior and senior year at a community college is a crazy opportunity that not enough kids take advantage of. Props goes to the parents that learn about this shit and go through the hurdles to get their kids in the programs.
So basically, its the kids that do the work day in and out (almost all success in school is from consistency rather than intelligence) but its the parents that open up avenues for those kids to realize extra opportunities. Its the parents that instill a sense of inherent value for learning.
Its almost impossible for kids to have the foresight to understand the importance of education. Being in high school is being in the shit. Its so fucking hard to see past that daily grind. Its on parents to instill that shit into kids through their own example and home culture. Kids that don't have that appreciation are often kinda fucked and teachers have to battle with them over the value of learning.
All of which is to say, whatever success your kid has reflects back on you as a father. Clearly you have done a good job communicating the importance of education and followed up by doing the legwork to get your kid into these programs. Good for you ***** for being an excellent dad.
