You get an F on your analogy. Not surprising.

Since the Cubs have chosen the learn on the job route you bat him where he is going to see less strikes in order to get him to stop swinging at them. Once he has that down you move him up. Not that hard of a concept to grasp and really has been done many times in baseball.

Who has this strategy worked for?

I can remember watching guys start in the 7,8,9 spot and then get moved up. Happened tons fo times. I don't have something specific so you can take it for what it is worth. I'm old. :)

Hiding behind a thin veil of semantics does not obscure the fact that everyone can see you're...nuts.

I was going to correct you again but this isn't the Beliefs forum

Only if he doesn't sign which is highly unlikely even with Boras being his Agent. It's a year, your window is long before you ever get to that year.

You're expecting him to sign, and take the same $ for that first year of the new contract that he would receive under club control?

I, for one, don't think Brett is nuts. We disagree on $ issues, and I think he is here to just to pee in the pool sometimes, but nothing like DewsSox does. But Brett at least knows what he is talking about.

(Usually) :)

I like that lineup, with bryant in it. But just for kicks and giggles, how does it look with zobrist and upton in it? just since I heard their names floated around the baseball world tied to the cubs today. I'd assume for that to happen, alcantra and valbuena are probably gone in parts of a package deal. so lets see a lineup to make me salivate even more for april 5

I would not plug Bryant in at LF for starters. I would keep LF short term for Schwarber. I would keep catcher as is and keep catcher first players as they progress.

With that in mind I would keep LF as is. Next year at this time Schwarber could be out there.

For fun:

Alcantara CF. He lacks OBA but he has impact potential
Castro SS due hits
Soler RF. Makes most sense as he has shown all around skills as a hitter
Rizzo 1B. LH bat splitting them up
Bryant 3B
Baez 2B
Montenero C
LF platoon

Next year with Schwarber it balances out the middle of the line up.

my thoughts:

no f-ing way baez is in the 2 hole

Bryant should start in iowa....last I read it was something like april 18th call up and we control him for another year.....that's about game 10 of the season.....I can live without him for 2 weeks

coughlin had a nice year but lf is just dying for an upgrade (see Colby rasmus talks)

however, using the current roster and assuming Bryant in the minors on opening day this is what I would do

coughlin
castro
Rizzo
soler
Montero
baez
valbuena
alcantera

I would like to see Starlin Castro batting second but he did do good batting 4th in 2014.

I would like to see this:

1. Chris Coghlan
2. Starlin Castro
3. Anthony Rizzo
4. Kris Bryant
5. Javier Baez
6. Jorge Soler
7. Miguel Montero
8. Arismendy Alcantara
9. Pitcher
