he's exactly what I thought he'd be
An amazing athlete/runner of the ball who can stress the defense......but has a long way to go to develop as an actual passer (reading defense, making quick decisions, protecting the ball)
He's geting better but the above still rings true.....he's clearly shown Poles that he's the guy to build around

He is so much more than that though. He scrambles when his shit Oline wont protect him and his shit WRs wont get open. And today with one more added weapon, he showed he can be absolutely brilliant with his decisions.

Twice Fields and the Bears had the ball in the fourth quarter with a chance to put together a game-tying or go-ahead drive. And twice they failed.
On those two possessions, they called 12 passing plays but wound up with only two completions for a total of 3 yards.
I'll say it again for the brain dead meatballs...he's an amazing runner, hard to defend and is improving; but the passing part of the offense is still a mess.....unless you think 123 yards and 4.4 ypa are fine.

Really........On those last two drives Fields threw dimes to Claypool and St Brown. A PI that was not called and put the ball right on the WR's hands. What else do you want him to do throw the ball and catch it himself?
Yes it's fine when 3 of those passes go for TD's. Fields game is about total yards, just like every other running QB in the NFL.

Fields was always an incredible athlete, that was a given, and was always going to be a running threat.
His TD run was obviously so much fun, but two moments I absolutely loved from him were when he stood in the pocket and delivered the perfect TD pass to Mooney, and ironically the play the game was lost on. Those are areas of growth.
With the game on the line he delivered an absolutely perfect ball to St Brown, he cannot throw that ball into a more accurate window with just the right amount of zip. It’s a great play no matter the outcome, and Fields deserved so much better.
I am hugely encouraged by the accuracy of his throwing, his decision making and pocket presence. He’s cut out the mistakes and made good decisions to throw the ball away. These are huge factors.
The aerial yardage will come with competent receivers. Also teams will be seeing the rushing numbers and start giving more opportunities up downfield, so the numbers will balance out.
Never been more excited about a Bears QB. I just hope Poles is the right man to build the franchise around him, because this is the big opportunity now.
They have cut it back and traded away to leave very little around him to start again, but there will be a 3 year window now with Fields on his rookie deal.
OL, DL, LB and WR are now all desperate for upgrades - he has the cap, the picks and the QB but there is a huge amount of work to do now.

Greg calling others brain dead is legitimately funny. I'll never forget his very first thread on CCS, his introduction if you will. Where he tried to convince the board that NFL teams should go for two every single time. Because Greg is smarter than every NFL team to include their analytic departments.
After getting his shit pushed in repeatedly for several pages, he then finally caved on his stance in some regard citing that they should go for 2 most of the time. The man is touched.

Fields has a ypa of 7.1, 16th in the league.
Obviously he has to improve as a passer, has to continue taking easy throws. Seems like the passing game works well when it's scripted and then kinda declines as the game goes on.
But to say he's some kind of horseshit passer is just not accurate.

The result in the last three games: The Bears have scored 94 points, Fields has rushed for 320 yards, and Fields has thrown six TDs and one interception. The Bears have beaten New England but lost to Dallas and Miami … but have left the impression that they’re using the speedy and versatile Fields in a much smarter way.
The most impressive metric is Fields’ “rushing yards over expected,” particularly in his NFL quarterback record 178-yard rushing day Sunday in the 35-32 loss to Miami. By Next Gen’s tracking, Fields’ 15 carries should have netted him 65 yards. But his athletic skillset added 113 yards over the expected number. And his 88 yards after contact showed he can be a physical runner, not just one to make tacklers miss. Getsy is smart to design some runs for Fields, and to encourage him to take off running instead of forcing throws when the windows are tight. He scrambled for 61 yards on one run Sunday.

Like you yourself said, "be patient and shit".
As the weeks go on, Fields will keep getting better and most of those small gains will come in the passing game. Those passing numbers will slowly but surely start to rise. He left a few plays out on the field. Those will continue to lessen, and the passing stats will go up.

Just say what it is. First QB since at least 1950 with 3+ passing TDs and 175+ rushing yards and 1 rushing TD.

Imagine that Lamar Jackson throws 3 TDs and runs for 151 yards. Do you think that he will have tied Fields as the only two QBs with 150+ yards rushing and 3 TDs passes or will Jackson have matched an old standard that no longer has anything to do with the current record?
The new NFL standard is 3+ TDs and 175+ rushing yards. The bar has been raised.
Imagine if MLB had kept Babe Ruth's 60 homeruns in a season as the standard for a season. There are now 5 total players with 60 or more home runs in a season, but 60 is no longer an important number for home runs in a season for MLB because Barry Bonds hit over 70 home runs, making 60 a much less significant number.
This year was a perfect example. Judge hit more than 61 home runs, passing Ruth and Maris as the top home run hitter in NY Yankee history. It was significant achievement in Yankee history, not MLB history.
