At this current rate, the cap will go up 40 million a season so it’s not that big of a deal to be honest.

I doubt it will go up that much as this past year was much higher than expected.

Prob like 15-20m is a safe bet, but in 2-3 years the cap will be 300m. Thats 10% off the cap for a superstar WR.

This isnt that different than 10 years ago, when the cap was 120m but guys like vincent jackson made 11.5.

Just a lot more value at WR now, since db's cant really play defense anymore and just shadow WR's around. Right now seems like the adjustment period for WR's.

Just like we can thank the giants for fucking the QB market we can thank the texans for skull fucking the WR market by paying nico collins top 10 money

Can anyone blame Keenan Allen for not looking for a one last giant pay day after seeing the receiver contracts thrown out lately? The Odunze pick could prove to be both very lucky (that he fell to us) and plenty savvy (to go for talent at that position over need) in just a year here.

Paying over 300k a catch!

It’s at the point teams can’t afford a top QB and a top WR.

No worries they will just jack up the price of Sunday ticket to 1k per season. But that only gets you Sunday games - you need to drop another grand on all of the other streaming services to watch everything. Then you can go drop 1k to watch a game in person a couple times per year. Gotta get these boys paid!!

No WR in the league is worth that much.

The NFL WR position might be the most overpaid position in sports.
LMAO at this assertion.

I would argue that there is no professional football position that is overpaid when looking at all sports. Baseball? Basketball? GTFO.

It's nice to see that not just Bears related threads are turned into Lions-related elderly-man-bickering-and-namecalling. It can be threads about a Vikings receiver as well.

#EquailityForAllThreads
Feel free to look back and see which poster was the first to bring the Lions into the conversation.

Same ol' story, I make one comment which in no way is related to the Lions, then some dumb cuck has to reply with something Lions related, and then if I respond, people like you cry like a little sissy boy.

It's really not that hard, don't bring them up, and then I won't respond.

I mean he's not wrong. Can someone name the last HOF/All Word Receiver that was the key piece to a Super Bowl winner? Tyreke Hill, maybe?

I don't count Gronk or Kelce because they are TE. But for real, name the last stud WR where a team won a ring because of them. Kupp had a ridiculous 2021 season but his other 7 years in the league, he's pretty average at best.

Isn't getting to the SB a key ingredient to winning one?

No he didn’t. Thats absurd amount of money to touch the ball, maybe 7 times a game.
It's a sellers market, and he's a top-of-the-market sort of receiver.

I'm not sure why you feel it's absurd. Even if he gets the ball one in every ten offensive snaps, he's drawing coverage away from everyone else on the team. Defenses have to focus on keeping him contained. That's of incredible value beyond just the number of catches he gets

How about Golf? Most of us go for a round as a break from the regular stress of life. Being paid to golf is like being paid to vacation.

I mean the obvious answer to your question is yes. My point was name a HOF caliber WR in the game today that has won a ring. Outside of Tyreke Hill, none of them have. So, all these WR are clamoring for money, but the reality is, none of them are bringing you a ring, so why break the bank on a WR?

Yes and no. Have to keep in mind that an NFL roster is more than double that of an MLB roster and almost 5x that of an NBA roster.

Baseball and NBA contracts are bloated as hell, no doubt about that, but to spend 20% of your cap on a WR when there are 54 other players you need to sign, not to mention, having a high priced WR hasn't really translated into SB wins for pretty much any team over the last 10+ years, why spend that money is the question.

The market is dictating such. Can't fault the wr's.

Same reason runningbacks are no longer valued. Did any get drafted in the 1st round? Back in the day it's the only position the Bears drafted consistently high, lol
