Here's your #Blackhawks news of the day. JQ just said he's going to try Patrick Kane at center. Yes, Kane.

That's what happens when you have shit depth at center & don't address it in the off-season.

I wouldn't mind seeing Hossa move to center. If we absolutely had to Olesz and Stalberg could center the 4th line bumping some guys up

Wasn't Hossa a Center for an extended period of time somewhere?

I don't see why Sharp can't play. Unless he means just in case Sharp isn't ready for the first few games. But I think Kruger should be given a chance before Kane.

Terrible idea and I don't expect Kane to play center in the regular season at all.

I full expect us to start with Toews, Sharp, and Bolland as our top 3 centers (if Sharp is healthy).

I have no idea how he'd be defensively, and initially I'd assume not very good.

But the idea of Kane in the center dishing to Sharp or Hossa on the wing does sound rather appealing. Either one of those guys is capable of a 40+ goal season if they have a guy who can constantly feed them the puck.

@Chris Kuc
#Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said the intention is to play Patrick Sharp on the wing this season.

@Adam Jahns
Q said trying Kane at C had little to do w/ Sharp's status. That being said, JQ is "hopeful" Sharp plays Oct. 7, could be on W

Analysing the story from the Trib using Quenneville's quote, and keywords.

"We might try Kane at center," Quenneville said. "He's been playing center throughout scrimmages and practices now. We'll see."

"Absolutely," Quenneville said. "He's played center most of his life. Defensively, he's gotten better as he's grown ... down low on the walls. It's something we're going to at least take a look at."

Hardly set in stone, now is it?

Like SC116 said not set in stone. But i am not against it, if Q wants to take a look at it then i say why is it a problem? What if it turns out to be a brilliant move and he kills it? And one more reason to try it, say it doesnt work then you change it again. Better to work out the kinks early and get if figured out then still trying to figure them out in January. We wont know it doesnt work until it is tried on the ice. So everyone chill and dont slam the guy or coach until we see it on the ice.

I can see why he wants Sharp as a wing, but breaking up Toews and Kane is going to hurt the top line.

It didn't hurt in games 5 & 6 in the SCF, but yeah, I know that team was stacked.

I don't expect it. I doubt it would work well. I wonder if Scotty master-bated this thought.

Like someone said the center is supose to be reliable both ends of the rink. Kane can't even do it at RW. Keep him at the wing, let him work the puck carrying odd man rushes. I'd rather Smith be #2 than Kane

I've got a buddy who honestly thinks we're going to go

Stalberg - Toews - Brunette
Hossa - Kane - Sharp
Frolik - Bolland - Bickell

on the top three lines. I call full retardation. I do not like splitting up two guys who have played well together for 3 years, and I don't like Stalberg on the 1.
