I've got a buddy who honestly thinks we're going to go

Stalberg - Toews - Brunette
Hossa - Kane - Sharp
Frolik - Bolland - Bickell

on the top three lines. I call full retardation. I do not like splitting up two guys who have played well together for 3 years, and I don't like Stalberg on the 1.

I doubt you see a toews stalberg and brunette first line. Centers don't really dish the puck as much as they use to as players have gotten bigger and usually are in front of the net. I'm satisfied with Kane on toews right dishing 50+ assists and scoring 25+ goals

No chance.

That top line would be awful.

Only if you want to make Toews worse and have a terrible top line. And they have right/left wings confused on the second and third lines. Hossa is almsot always RW and Fro will probably be RW.

Sorta; it's consistent, though.

Probably. An upside would be that opposing top defensive pairings would key on that 2nd line. Toews would certainly have to do a ton on his own, though (not much different from this past season, though).

Q split up Kane and Toews late in game 4 of the finals against Philly, forcing the Flyers to commit to one line.
Let's see how Kane fares in the preseason.
I'm interested in seeing how much stronger he is on the puck and how he's healed.

Kane was pretty solid. 1 downfall on the night was he wasn't back every shift. The NHL has become very high on 2 way forwards with centers being the dominant of them. Kane is by far from a 2 way player, luckily he was on a line with Hossa who can get back

You make a good point about Hossa- he did kinda cover for the times where Kane didn't come all the way back (lets face it, Hossa does that to any line he's on). Meanwhile, the two of them were fantastic offensively... chances all over the place.

Kane clearly has the speed and endurance to play both ways, but even when he was back checking tonight, he still took a needless hooking penalty while he was chasing the puckholder. I think he'll always have the desire to cheat and wait for a big breakout pass- it's just such a huge part of his game and quite frankly- I don't think I want to see that disappear.

If he's going to do center, I wouldn't mind it when he has Hossa and/or Sharp there with him.

I thought Brunette and Toews had some very good chemistry and hoping they stick it out
