thats what i said. Said it from day one vokoun was over rated and im sticking by it. Guys done shit in his career. Has won nothing and has taken his teams no where. Alright, how can you overrate a goalie that plays well on teams with mediocre to bad offense and lets up among the most shots in the league every season? That's a rarity. That's why he's thought of as he is. And most of it was right after the lockout, when the game became faster, and just about every goalie's took a hit in their numbers, an exception being Vokoun. He was WELL above league average during that time while on teams with shit offense, which puts more pressure on him, and that let up among the most shots, which again puts more pressure on him. So he's not even close to the reason why his teams never went far or won anything, he's the reason his teams even got to where they did in the first place.



This season, with injuries, he's still above average. Not facing as many shots as he did on previous teams this season (around 27 compared to usually 30+ w/ Florida and Nashville) but....the guy that's supposed to be better than him according to TCD is facing even LESS shots per game (around 25, lower than what the league leading Blues average allows) and is below league average in save percentage this season. So....yeah. Hard to believe thinking that way.

Vokoun was the most consistent goalie in the NHL since the lockout prior to this year.

I said he was unproven on a team that had more pressure on it to win and he didnt have the mental game...and he has proven it this season. We harp on crawford for not being able to win games on his own enough....vokoun has probably been the worst in the league this season in that department.



He couldnt win the big games on the international stage either. Its all about wining when it matters most. Vokoun hasnt done so. ill change my stance on vokoun once he proves something. Hes no hall of famer and hes no goalie anyone will remember 10 years after he retires.

When has he even had the opportunity? And even then, it's more about the team he has with him when he does have that opportunity. You have some real bullshit expectations for goalies. How has he proven it this year? By being above average? On a team that has had a coaching change, a star, their most important player, that takes shifts off, the list goes on and on of what's going on with that Capitals team. And he's the guy you're looking to blame? Bullshit.



You can't judge a goalie based on wins or winning the Cup or "winning when it matters most", or whatever the **** you're talking about. If you did, Osgood would be one of the best of all time, and I hope you know that's not true. It seems like every few months you seem to regress to this standard NHL fan/analyst bullshit belief system of what makes a good goalie, it's weird to see.

I used to have one with the guy statwise, but now that he can't even take Washington to a division title, I am very concerned. Its not like their team got dismantled or anything.
