Kerry Wood for the HOF

Had a 40 something man come to my garage sale and comment that Wood is a probable HOF. I said he has only about 100 wins. He countered with the 20k game.

He's not even getting into the Cub HOF

This is the problem. Tons and tons of these types of fans making the genuinely great Cub fans look bad

I think it'll be unlikely, but he'll be on the ballot I think. If he plays a few more years as a Cub and retire as a Cub, I think there's a good chance the Cubs will retire his jersey.

Yeah one good game won't get you into the Hall. Woody was awesome and probably my favorite Cubs pitcher, but I don't think he is Cooperstown eligible.

Retiring Wood's jersey would be a mockery of the guys who actually earned their flags on the foul pole. He was a great Cub with potential but he simply never became the HOF-caliber pitcher he could've been.

I actually think Z would be a Cubs HOFer before Wood. As sad as they may sound. Wood is a fan favorite but Z's 125 wins and I believe 3rd all time in K's ( I could be a spot or 2 off, even though Wood is behind Z in K's.) Wood doesn't even have 100 wins.

It's not about wins really. It's about their overall production. If we cast wins aside, Z has just been a better pitcher than Wood in just about every aspect except for strikeouts.

I think the "save" is a lame statistic and unless the reliever is Mariano Rivera, doesn't actually deserve to be in any Hall of Fame.

Considering how many Cubs fans want to destroy Marmol after today's fail, I don't think he's going to last very long and won't make the HOF anyway
