He'd be a first ballot hall of famer in the hall of potential.

No, Castro will beat him out for the first inductions to the Hall of Potential when it is opened in 2035.

I hate the Cubs but love baseball which is why I am here

I don't show hatred for any player in this thread

Marmol was for potential talk of another pitcher that might deserve the Cubs HOF before Wood

Finally, every guy mentioned in this thread will almost certainly be on an official HOF Ballot. It's something like ten years of service.

Pretty sure Woody had some stuff taken to the hall after that game (cleats maybe? idr.) He's rep'd there, and SHOULD be considered the only pitcher ever to have a 20 K game w/out the use of steroids (though he's never been proven innocent...but he's never to my knowledge been proven guilty, either)......

idgaf if he's in the Cubs hall or not, I just hope he stays on w/ the team after he retires.

Randy Johnson was on steroids for his 20 K game?

He has items in there, that is all that should be there. He will not get enough votes to remain on the ballot after his first year of eligibility

That's the problem with the steroid argument, is nobody knows exactly how much boost the steroids give, and you have to kind of wonder whether steroids would do the same for a David Eckstein as it would for a Sammy Sosa. Steroids aren't suddenly going to turn James Russell into Sandy Koufax.

good catch, forgot about his. Some say it shouldn't count b/c the game was longer...and to the T, they are correct, but as far as I'm concerned, it should count. He didn't pitch in the 10th.

All players, who are in the league the required amount of time, are on the ballot at least once

He'll be on the ballot as a 10+ year veteran, but he won't stay on it. I think pretty much any player who has made contributions for 10+ seasons will get on the ballot by default unless I'm mistaken.

we should just make everyone a HOFr than.

Hell no. But all players who meet requirements are allowed an opportunity. That is why there is a vote.

Mark DeRosa will be on the ballot once he retires. Is he a HOF player? Hell no.
